Teaching Health Insurance or Medical Law & Ethics can prove challenging with visual learners. I have found that showing a movie that relates to the subject matter can be helpful. Although the movie is fictional, or may be based on a true story, students can see how the concept plays out in real life.
I like using hands on techniques as well as powerpoints with hand outs.

I teach the students how to mind map. I show them videos of mind mapping and images of completed mind maps. Then I begin drawing one on a white-board, letting students have turns identifying concepts and drawing branches and sub-branches.
I think that diagrams, movies, and powerpoints are good methods to used for visual learners.

When I recognize the visual learner- I try to put myself in their place because I am a visual learner also- I try to capture their attention and learning style by using illustrations on the white board, poweerpoints, handouts- etc. It usually works also for the other students
I believe it's a great idea to use videos for visual learners while combining with graphs or other picturesque details. I think it's helpful to present the material from the videos by using different activities that will capture the attention of students with different learning styles.
One of the best ways I have found to work with visual learners, is to utilize the technology that we have for up to the minute information, the internet. Students are not only able to see the information, they are also able to understand the concepts behind looking things up and researching various topics.

I draw a mixing bowl with different colors for each different ingredient so the students can distinguish it better. It seems to work.
In my courses I use overheads, powerpoint, and books. I can see that most of my students learn better by seeing things in class than by listening to me lecture.
I have used different color dry erase markers to illustrate on the white board the path the blood takes through the heart and the valves and chambers it passes through.
Instructional strategies that I use in my teaching include using lists that organize and categorize medical instruments and medical procedures.
I also print out my powerpoint presentations for my students and often have them open their text book and refer to the pictures and tables in the text while I am lecturing.
Their text book has excellent color photos and well-organized charts/tables that enhance my lectures.

Using different types of visual materials is important when working with visual learners. Examples include Powerpoints, films, brainstorming bubbles, diagrams, compters, slides, photographs, etc. Other strategies could include, using different colors and (legible) fonts to "highlight" important pieces of information, and having pictoral representations such as tables, and graphs.
