I have learned from this helpful module that even tough I have decades in the classroom, seeking for new porfessional development opportunities is fundamental. This will help me to adjust to changing trends in education and learning styles in the younger generations, for example.
I have learned the five Cs: credible, candid. compassionate, commited and clear. It is important to be a model instructor.
Many roles as an instructor.
I have learned to be prepared, have a realistic goal, if I make a mistake dont be so hard on myself. Move on. My confidence is important to have the students will sense it.
This course taught me to to have a Professional Development Plan to become a better teacher. We have to keep growing and learning ourselves and finding new and better methods to improve ourselves and delivering the material that we are given to teach the students.
Role Modeling and motivation can have a great impact.
Professionalism, respect, the 5 C's, development plans.
Clear goals, find your style, be honest and humble, and continually strive to be the best you can be.
As an instructor we act as role models. How we present ourselves (dresscode, language, timeliness) is how we can expect the students to act in class. Found the friend vs pal was helpful. Advice from fellow instructors is a tool we can use throughout our careers.
The biggest takeaway from this module so far has been that as faculty we need to model, manage, and motivate. I also appreciated the video where the professor encouraged his students to remember that as smart as one may be, there is always someone smarter. This is a good way to approach teaching and life in general and encourages one to stay open-minded to learning.
To display your interest in learning the subject gives your students the opportunity to model our behavior. Leading by actions is the most effective way to motivate your students. Being adaptable and compassionate is a key part of our students success.
Continuing education is so important in this ever changing world. I am glad to see that there are many topics and procedures that I feel competent at but also many areas of needed improvement. This is a great self evaluation course to see where the areas are that we unintentionally neglect or forget to address.
As a beginner instructor, I would try to first identify the nned of the sudents and my need. gst to know the students goal, if any, and hellp them meet it. I would apply my experience and share it with my students as a success accomplishment and teach them how to develope their own unique skill.
It is a good idea to take into account your own personality, the teaching objectives of the school and the course being taugt. Also, each class group has its own personality. Get to know your students as a whole and as part of the whole so that you can best articulate the content for their style of learning.
Having an instructional plan to do this would include, having a timeline for your own personal development in topics on the timeline based on what teaching skills you need to develop in your progress as an instructor.
Continuing education and personal development.
To enjoy each day of each class
Be a cheerlleade and motivator to students. Have them apply what they learned.
I learned that I am a motivator and that I set the bar for my class. It has helped me become more aware of what I do and say in fornt of students.
Leadership by example. The 5 Cs .
