That's great to hear Kamille. Often times when we start a new job, it's tempting to take a break from physical fitness. But finding a way to work it back in feels great!

I will be committed to an exercise program. I have worked in my current position for over a year now, and the first year, I did not exercise. I felt horrible as a result, so I began an exercise program 2 months ago, and it has really changed how I feel physically and emotionally.

After having my own business for over two years I made several decisions. #1: I wanted to work part-time at my former job which I really missed (teaching) and spend the rest of my time in my bistro. In order to do that, I had to rely on my employees. So after speaking with them, that's what I decided to do. My first day back at school was exhilarating and exciting. I couldn't wait for the next day to do it all over again. (This could work!) Day 2 of this schedule, my employee didn't show up or call me. So I had to call the school and tell them I would not be able to teach while managing my bistro at the same time. Decision #2: Get rid of the bistro! I accomplished that within 4 months and went back to teaching full time. I have never regretted my decision. Just making the decision once and for all, helped me eliminate an extraordinary amount of stress in my life. I haven't looked back.

I think I will try to take up some type of meditating practice or yoga. I eat fairly healthy and exercise regularly...I think that taking a few minutes out of every day to just relax, breathe, and stretch out would be benefitial for me.

I find that exercise helps greatly, but also can add some stress to my life because I have a tendency to want to over do it and be ultra healthy.

What I usually do at the end of the night after a hard day, I likle to relax and try not to think of the stress that has happened. Usually I read a book or article of interest to me, or I usually like watching a TV show/movie that I enjoy. I find this really helps me cope with stress that could easily overwhelm me otherwise.

Yes, I think learning to cope is really key on this list. Sometimes stress can't be eliminated or reduced. Just learning to deal is a great skill.

I will try not to leave work and assignment for the last minutes

Eating right, exercising and learning to cope with stressors are all good ideas based on my life style and knowing myself.

These are both great ideas Ron. Talking with a friend outside of the school context can be especially helpful because they can bring an alternative perspective.

This is a great list Franz. Sounds like you already have a lot going for you but also know about your opportunities to improve.

It's ok to slip every once in a while Michell. Just as long as we focus on trying to be consistent, we are on the right track.

Yes, getting enough exercise is a cycle that can really take you down, or bring you up depending on what you do with it.

Yes, I think you make an important point as it relates to optimism. We must approach life with a positive outlook if we want to effectively manage stress.

This is true Hans. We must think carefully about the language we use to describe the challenges in our lives. The language we use frames how we see things.

I believe I will use the exercise direction, it both relieves current stress and future stress when being out of shape causes health issues, which in it self creates stress!

I try to do the same since I am a Chef Instructor I need to exercise this way I can maintain healthy but just like you sometimes I slip.
In my work place right now I am teaching several classes but I tell myself that I not going to do it but I keep doing it because if not I can pay my expenses.

I bike to work, I do yoga, I go hiking, I daily discuss with my wife my work. What i could do more is make lists, sleep more, going earlier to bed.

I'm going to try talking about my stress with a friend outside the school environment. I also will be trying the breathing techniques.

i believe that we use to many slogans without identifying the true meaning of the slogan or its individual words.
many time "stress" means nothing else than caring enough to worry and beeing preoccupied with finding a proper solution to a problem. that is not neccessarily unhealthy or bad, even if you choose to call it "stress"

It is how we deal with our stressors that is important since we cannot eliminate all stressors. Listening to self-help tapes or soothing music can help with commuting stressors. Regular exercise helps deal with stressors that tend to affect us physically. Being optimistic rather than pessimistic can help overcome those stressors that affect our point of view. Finally, thinking outside the box to solve problems can help alleviate stressors that affect us in our day-to-day activites.
