Hi David,
Whenever students gain confidence, they are more motivated to begin the project and put forth great effort. Showing students an example is certainly helpful.
Patricia
Showing example of the work they will be doing is benificial to both the instructor and the student. It gives the students an idea of what the instructor is expecting from them and increases the students' confidence by showing them that the expectations are obtainable.
Often times what you are explaining is understood differently than what you may have thought. This will give clarification and is a great tool for your visual learners.
I have considered showing a student's "A" work after it has been graded. I thought it would be a good method to show the other students what type of work earned an "A" Is that ethical? Or do you think it would anger the students who didn't do that well?
Hi David,
Students really do gain confidence and become motivated once they see an example. Visual learners love being shown an example; it all makes sense once seeing the example.
Patricia
It shows the expectation and sets the bar
Showing examples of the work students will be doing will help clarify expectations and help visual learners. I like to show some examples of my work as well as previous students. Showing the work of previous students will put some students at ease who might not have confidence otherwise. It shows the assignment can be accomplished.
Hi Medhin,
Absolutely! It is a great way to reflect and ponder. You have so many studens that will really think out of the box and come up with excellent projects by expounding on the shown examples.
Patricia
I think that providing concreted examples helps students relate to the topic taught and they can better perceive the learning purpose of that specific subjet.
I work in a trade schools where my students are very much hands-on. they need to see and touch and operate to ge involved.
Hi Teresa,
Examples are extremely helpful for students. Students feel more at ease whenever they have an example to go by. We want to do all we can as educators to help our students succeed.
Patricia
Many adult learners are visual and auditory learners so by showing the work and talking about some examples we are stimulating the students success and motivating them to seek further knowledge.
Many students simply don't understand the relevance of the subject to their field of study. Showing examples of what they are going to do helps by showing them the relevance to their field. It also helps by getting them excited about what they will be able to do by the end of the term.
Students need to have an understanding of the what the learning process will entail, therefore, having real examples helps to grasp and apply lessons taught.
Modeling is so important to any endeavor being taught; when you can see the outcome before you start, you travel the road more confidently because you know what it looks like.I'm using a text-book that focuses on academic writing, and the approach it takes resembles the example posted by Robert, on rubric analysis prior to essay development.
Great post Robert! Any way I could see that rubric? Could you email acopy to dotalk1@yahoo.com? Thanks
Hi Karin,
I feel as though showing examples is very beneficial to students. Students tend to get a better understanding once they see the finished product. I have had students to tell me oh, now I understand after sharing examples.
Patricia
Showing examples of studens work and who succeed gives opportunity to tink and refelect the importance of the learning process.
Hi Faith,
School is where the learning process begins. Showing examples is an excellent way to help students understand various concepts. Students appreciate whenever examples are shared.

Hi Jose,
Students get a great feeling when they know exactly what it is they need to do; being shown examples add motivation.
Patricia
Examples show the students exactly what they will be doing and can help peek their interest in that career. it will help them connect the knowledge given to them to hands on skill.
