Maicel ,
Excellent! Keep on adding additional resources to increase the value of your notebook. Make it work for you!

Frank,
Policy manuals give clarity to processes and directives. They still tie into the catalog at some point.
Patty Aronoff
Steven,
You are right! Many students confuse the term accreditation and licensure. Accreditation is only valid when the accrediting body is recognized by the USDOE.
Patty Aronoff
Mary Catherine ,
The enrollment agreement along with the catalog constitute the contract with the student and the school. When they sign the EA, they are stating that they have read and received a copy of the catalog.

Denise,
You are awesome! Thanks for adding depth and dimension to the forum with your response.

michael,
Internship/externship is such an exciting part of a student's program. They actually get to go out in the real world and make it happen. We always strive for sites that are hiring. What a great opportunity to "shine."
Patty Aronoff
Adalinda,
Placement assistance is required by Florida rules. The extent of those services varies from institution to institution. The more effort in assisting your students, the chances of your students gettingn jobs increases. A win-win.
Patty Aronoff
Branden,
Testing is an important part of the admissions process. Whatever testing is used by your school, it must be outlined in your catalog along with the minimum requirements for each program. Testing must be completed by a third party and result placed in the student's file.

Thank you for facilitating this course. It has really prepared me for our onsite visit(OSV). In response to your question, I will add student services to my resource manual. It will help the students to know waht options are available to them should they need assistance.
:) Ok. some terms and definitions used during the admission process: We have to abide by the rules and regulations that are required by the Florida department of Education. We have to practice Fairness with all the forms we use, along with the prices; This is called "Fair Consumer Practices, 6E-1.0032. Institutions shall maintain
a file for each student at each location and conforming to the requirements of Rule 6E-2.004, FAC. We have a student file checklist for each student's folder, to ensure that each student is treated fairly in this administrative issue. We use student enrollment forms, showing the cost of everything included in the price of the course to be taken. The Florida Commission for Independent Education,(CIE)now requires that all admission staff complete this approve training. I have been a Business Administrator / Business owner for over 25 years, so I understand conforming to the rules and reulations...
CIE, Enroolment form,Admission forms
The organizational chart, and as stated extremely important. Thank you Patti.
One term that is used often is accreditation. It gets a lot of attention in the media so most prospects ask, however, they do not know what it means. We mostly have medical programs here so we review the accrediation and license requirement for each program.
Some of the terms and definitions commonly used during the admission process at my institution are:
Enrollment: Registering a student to take programs or courses at an institution when such registration obligates the student pay tuition and obligates the institution to provide instruction to the student.
Enrollment Agreement: A legally binding contract that is signed by applicants to licensed institutions as well as by authorized personnel at the institution. This contract forms the agreement to terms of enrollment and provides disclosures which inform consumers of important policies of the institution, which their signature indicates acknowledgement of.
Program: A prescribed group of courses, taken in the proper sequence to attain mastery of a body of knowledge or set skills, and leading to a certificate, diploma, or degree.
Scholarship: A grant-in-aid to a student. The offer of a grant-in-aid to enrolled student to offset partial or complete costs of a program, certificate, or degree.
Patty,
First let me apologize for my delay in responding. It's funny as you sent your second email, I was searching for the first. I have been using 2 computers and on this one it was in my "junk" folder.
At Regional, we seem to be using some of the most common ones listed in the module. First and foremost, would be "program". We talk a lot about the program, courses, course descriptions, etc... We also discuss licensure and accreditation which are detailed in the catalog as well as the enrollment agreement. Enrollment would be another term, particularly as we review the enrollment agreement and what that means as far as our responsibilities to the student and their responsiblity as well.
These are also probably foremost in my mind having just completed Module 2. Please let me know if I need to include any additional information.
Thanks!
Denise
classroom hour means at least 50 minutes in the presence of an instructor.
tuition means the amount of money paid by the student to attend the school.
completion of the program means meeting all of the requirements of the chosen program.
internship means the part of the program after completion of all other requirements, putting into effect the knowledge and skills obtained previously.
I have the terms and definitions, dividers, school enrollment agreement, samples of school's marketing material and school catolog with the policies and procedures.
Some of the most commonly used terms and definitions used during the admission process at our institution are enrollment agreement, college/program policies, admission requirements, transfer of credits, and placement services.
There are many definitions, Here are a few
Orientation
Financial Aid
Admission testing
tuition
Accreditations
transfer-in credits
David,
We all needs have a good working knowledge but I would rather hand them over to the experts. We are doing a disservice if w provide wrong information even with the best intentions.
