I agree, it is your responsibility to be knowledgeable about both the commission rules and statutes to ensure acuracy for yourself and the student.

A few ways to learn about the various statutes, rules and regulations is to:

Read them for my self
Discuss in our staff/grad team meetings: this usually generates questions and discussion. I gain more knowledge by their experiences
Identify the importance during interactions with students

Casey,
Excellent! They should never be dust covered. Use them and reinforce your knowledge whenever possible.

Printing them out and going over them when needed.

Karina,

CIE is very good about keeping schools current on changes. Also check out FAPSC, the state school organization.

Karina,

Good suggestion! We all have different ways of keeping the information. Just make sure it is current!

Belen,

A best practice! Check the Commission website for upcoming rule changes.

Ashlynn,

Excellent! Games keep it fun and bring out the competitive nature of admissions.

you should visit the website at least once a month for updates

I think having them in a bullet point format works, next to your desk or saved on your desktop.

Rules and regulations can change any time. I have the State web site under my favorites so I can check it often.

I think we should use a memory game or a trivia game in order to make sure that all of the statues are learned and followed

tony,
We have an obligation to our school, ourselves and the students we serve to be current on all regulations and policies.

Carolina,

Excellent! I use the printed format so that I can make notes in the margins, highlight, etc.

Patty Aronoff

Katherine,

A best practice used by many school personnel. Take time to read them and understand them.

it is a must to stay up to date on all rules and regs

I am taking the time to review the information, printing the material and referencing back when needed.

I basically print out all of the regulations. I think that is the only way to be on top of following all the rules and regulations is to go over every one of them until you know what they are, you would want to make sure you are on top of job and policies in order to be sucess in your career.

Caterina,

We are in a very dynamic environment which causes changes daily, from state to federal to accrediting rules and regulations.

Nick,

Checking the CIE website is the route as well as the state school association (FAPSC). Both are very good about posting upcoming changes.
