I've got it marked on my calendar (15th of every month)to check on updated FL rules and statues using this link http://www.leg.state.fl.us/statutes/
I agree! I will set the reminder on my IPhone to remind me to follow up monthly...
That is an excellent idea!
Sherri,
Try quizzing each other to see how much you really know. It takes application of the rules to certain situations to make sure that you understand them fully.

Patty,
I agree when I was first going back to school I saw that there were so many avenues to go. Either in class, online, OJT, and some hybrid learning. Either way were there is a will there is a way.
We did review some of the regulations in our classroom, thankfully we are self taught from e-learning and we could take out time in consuming the information.
Scarlett,
The Florida administrative weekly site actually tracks all changes to all legislation. It can be lengthy in nature but it does provide you the information that you need.
Patty Aronoff
Eric,
You have a great plan! Continual review of the regulations is an important part of the education of ourselves as part of the process.
Patty Aronoff
would this be the site where it actually shows you the changes, what i've read in regards to "tracking" changes?
Thanks
Didn't even know that existed. Is there some type of charge for that service? How does one go about finding such a service. Yes, it does seem very, very helpful for those of us that wear many "hats".
Thank you.
Hello Patty,
The three ways that I am learning the various Florida Statutes and Rules and Regulations that regulate my activities and institution are as follow:
1) Utilizing the FAPSC website, I use the links that get me to the pages of information I need from the Statutes and Rules.
2) I have printed the information from the links and have been refering to it on a regular basis in my role as admissions representative.
3) I will check the Florida Commission for Independent Education website at least once a month for announcements of any updates to Rules and Statutes.
Koffi,
It is lengthy! Take the time to go through to read the rules and understand how they apply. I suggest that you place your catalog and enrollment agreement alongside when reading to connect the documents with the rules.
Patty Aronoff
I am currently in the process of reading and understanding the Florida Statutes and rules and regulations. It's a lengthy package, however making sure I familiarize myself with it the best I can.
Rahiem,
Very much so! We always should be operating with the regulations in mind. Therefore it is just as important to keep current on regulations to operate legally.
Patty Aronoff
Thank you for the website! I will add to my favorites and check monthly.
I agree! I love that the compliance department lifts a little weight off our shoulders!
Just to be mindful of the rules and statutes and the rules and regulation for florida and to have a sense of direction of how things work for florida also ask your bosses on how it works as well.
MONTFORT,
All changes are required to be published to the public. The "Sunshine Law" in Florida requires full disclosure to the public. Meetings must be noticed as well as changes in Florida Administrative Code and Florida Statutes. These are published in the Florida Administrative Weekly which can be accessed through Online Sunshine.
Patty Aronoff
I think that there should be a section in any school to keep track of the changes and when they happen.
In addition, if one relies on the Commission for Independant Education website for updates, whow often and quick is it updated with new requirements and information?
I believe that, to be effective, the school representatives must keep an open eye on both, the Florida legislature's action and the commission website.
Ashley,
You have a team effort in keeping current with any changes. Great job!
