We currently offer only Allied Health at our campus and training admissions reps include studying the catalog, sitting in classes and meeting with program directors, multiple on-line company resources and training.
We are healthcare oriented and therfore very aware of preparing students for a standardized exam. From the very begining of our program, testing is both didactic and skills based. When students come for their initial interview they are taken through the skills lab to see our equipment and often have an opportunity to see instructors in action. That personal interaction has proven to be a valuable tool to reduce anxiety and raise the level of excitement about returning to school.
We offer programs that are in the business, healthcare, and public sector. There are training classes to inform advisors on programs and any changes.

Robert,
It is a great idea to include Career Services from the beginning. They work hard to place our students.
We offer a wide range of programs from alide health, business, education, technology, and criminal justice. Most of our professors have worked in field and are a great source of information. Also the student service department has a lot of inforamtions about the current job market and opportunities in our local area.
Daniel,
I would hope that one is hired based on what they bring to the organization regardless of age. By entering career schools, there are many reasons why students enroll. They maybe fulfilling their lifelong dream or enhancing already gained knowledge. I would highly recommend not discouraging anyone from pursuing due to their age.
We have a lot of health care classes of all kind. Billing and Coding plays an important role as well as Medical Assistant and other programs.
The age of the students though is amazing, not just the younger ones are choosing a career in this field, but also the ones one might think are to old (whatever that age might be...).
Although it is important that we tell the prospects that at a certain age it is almost a wasteof time and money to go to school.
As example: What doctors office would hire a 67 year old medical assistant when there are a lot of 28 years old ones out there?
Daniel,
The health field is one that will always be around. The interesting part of health care today is that it is very technology oriented. Electronic medical records will shortly be required. Students will need to know that part of the job as well.
Sandy,
I agree that having the classroom experience and faculty that have worked in the field are excellent resources. Everytime we observe a class, we learn more about the program.
We do offer medical related programs, Criminal Justice programs, Design programs (digital desing, interieur design, web design), computer programs, and educational programs.
By having a wife who is a teacher and graduated from our school a few years ago, I got to learn a lot about the educational programs we do offer.
I am interested in digital design and can rely to my computer knowledge to 'promote' our computer programs.
I read and hear a lot about the medical field especially in our area here in FL and I see on our job board that the health system is the biggest employer in our county. Students are thrilled by those opportunities.
We offer diplomas in Video Production and Post Production, and I have sat in on most every class we teach to gain some sort of background of what students are learning and/or looking for. All of our instructors also work in the field, which is a great resource for students to find out what jobs are actually out there and what can be expected of them once they graduate.
Amid,
The Commission requires that any salary information given requires the source from which it is derived. Also make sure that the students are aware that these are only average salaries and that each location may pay differently.
We offer Recording Arts, Film and an Entertainment Business Workshop. I've looked at certain websites like salary.com and the Bureau of Labor Statistics to look at the job field. Also, all of the instructors are currently working in the industry, so we pull information from them on different careers in the field available to our students. Finally, we also have our Career Services department which researches the info.
John,
You are right on target. We cannot assume that our students will stay in the area and work for a local employer. We are in a transient society and on the move!
As an admissions representative, it is my responsibility to provide students with detailed information about the wonderful programs we offer. Some of my favorite programs include Criminal Justice, Management and Marketing, Network Engineering and Administration, and Accounting, just to name a few.
I understand that infomration is constantly changing and our programs are improving on a daily basis, so I'm required to keep up with the changes. Some strategies I think can be useful are interviewing faculty members, career services, and our job placement department to learn more about their programs and strategies and share this information with my co-workers. Also, I find US World News, NY Times, and Kipplingers as great resources to keep up with global demands in the workplace. I think its essential to apply real world situations with students to help them make informed decisions about their future.
Tony,
Wonderful! You are exceptional in bringing this personal experience to the prospective student.
April,
All information regarding placement and salaries must have documentation substantiating the information. Gone are the days of giving such information without creditable sources.
Jay,
Sounds like exciting opportunities ahead for your students. Pets are certaily our "other family" members. Ask to sit in on a few classes and talk with current students about their learning experiences. It helps to have a strong knowledge of the entire experience.
FIAA offers programs which train students for successful careers in the Pet Grooming and Veterinary Assistant fields. I have learned much about the jobs students train for through the school catalog and brochure, my own research and from speaking to our instructors--all of whom worked in the field in which they teach.
