Each year information about the institution I am more knowledgeable and is able to relate. Approx. 80% sound in explaining the information to the student without stumbling.

I have only been at my institution for 2 months. Being a small institution I know quite a bit but am learning all the time.

-I am familiar with our student services (Academic Resource Center; Housing; Etc.)
-I have met many (but not all) of the division chairs of our programs.
-I have a general knowledge of our degree programs--but definitely need to gain more knowledge about the specifics of the programs.
-I have a working knowledge of financial aid and scholarships, but definitely need to know more.

A lot has been learned, but there is MUCH more to learn.

we offer a awesome aray of medicial and allied health programs. along with business and computer technician repair programs.

these programs are short in length and provide training for individuals that need an opportunity for a new career.

FAA regulatory body is so out dated it's critical now. If they do not re vamp the rules and regulations to modern date we are in for trouble.

The industry has already changed and is well passed the cusp of training platform from individual gauges to all glass systems. Although currently considered to be equal training by the FAA, to be trained in either aircraft, full glass training is what is needed due to the fact that the airlines have these systems and need to compress time because of the upcoming shortages of pilots.

If there aircraft is on the ground, they make no money, they will go bankrupt plain and simple.

So being trained in out dated aircraft, which is the cheapest way to be a pilot, how good do you really think these pilots are? According to the FAA, they are trained enough to be first officers in a 50 passenger Jets that have full glass. They can do the learning curve in the cockpit.

Now we have this new HR 5900 rule that will go into effect in 2013. Requires 1,500 hours, and an ATP (airline transport pilot license), and you need to be 23 years old. Go to college and it’s 1,000 hours. Made by Politian’s, not pilots so it’s full of holes and is dangerous.
Quality training is very expensive and when you add all these flight hours you are forcing the “want to be pilots” to go back to the old aircraft with individual gauges because it’s simply cheaper per hour.

mabel,

Congratulations! You are starting off on the right foot getting in there and taking training.
