Tracy,
Agreed! Thank you for your posting.

Elliot,
Honesty and integrity are utmost in remaining compliant.

Candi,
The regulations do protect everyone. Not every state is this comprehensive.

I also work for a small institution and I wear many hats. What help is that I work hand in hand with the director and instructors. We double check each other and this makes the job easier.

I do find that the regulations are tricky at times. When there are updates, when new legislation is approved, etc. is not always known right of way. The challenge for me will be to continually look and search for updated material.

They are the tools which make my job easier. I know what is expected and can follow the rules. It enables me to better serve the applicants and students and to be the best representative possible for my institution. It's when there are no guidelines set that I find the task difficult.

The CIE requirements are a guideline to follow along with the specific guidelines for admissions set forth by the specific accreditation bodies and other regulatory bodies. Following these guidelines is a must, and there is not room for misrepresentation or non compliance.

We need to be honest with our candidates, listen to then carefully, respond to their questions. Making sure that everithing we do are on compliance.

CIE requirements serve as a wonderful outline for Admission representatives. They are instituted to protect the consumer as well as the institution.

Jenny,
Excellent advice.

Mostly changes in verbiage with things such as directing students to the bls.gov website instead of giving them the salary ranges ourselves and also showing a comprehensive FA video to every student so they are well aware of the process and what can be expected.

Rene,
Ethics are important. It's not just knowing the right thing to do but doing it.

Tasheika,
The rules are for the protection of all.

Yan,
Good advice. Thank you for your post.

The regulations provide guidance to our students and prospective student about the programs, costs, rates of employability, retention, degree, financial aid.
Follow regulations help us to give to our students respect, to do our job the best with ethic, discipline and knowledge

Knowing and understanding the policies and procedures effect how admissions representatives communicate to prospective students.

To keep in compliance with CIE requirements is very important for a school. As an adimissions representative or agent you must be trained to learn well these Requirements which include the guidelines for the purpose of the program, administration, program and curricula, admissions, faculty, learning resources, publications and ads, fair comsumer practice, etc. With these comprehensive guidelines in mind and your knowledge of your institution, you will be able perform your job on the right track. At the same time that goes without saying that you have to keep yourself updated with any change taking place. In short CIE requirements are having a great impact on your performance of your job.

Dennis,
Good advice in speaking with students. It's a tough job market today and graduates will need to compete.

I offer the range of local salaries, and a realistic breakdown of where the student will likely start their career (i.e. at the bottom end of the range...) But I also do my very best to see that the student understands that ultimately, whether they succeed or not comes down to how hard they are willing to try.

Daniel,
Salaries are a sticky topic. Even though we can provide documented salary ranges it all comes down to who will pay what. Unfortunately, there are no guarantees today in this labor market.
