Vicky,
The better we know our students, the better customer service we can provide. It is about finding the right fit between student and school.
Patty Aronoff
Mike,
Having the student repeat the information back to you is a great way to see if they understand. Or you may pose a question a little later that refers to it.
Patty Aronoff
I feel like we need to learn to know our students. Sometimes students have questions and even when you ask them, they are too shy to ask. These are the moments we need to learn how to read them and share with them with all the information they need. Obviously being knowledgeable, honest, and always looking for the best interest of the student are the keys to success.
I think compliance is the most important thing one is to consider when speaking with prospective students.
As I am speaking to them over the phone, I make sure that the candidate understands what I have said to alleviate any confusion or misinterpretation. I also let them know that I will be e-mailing them follow up information to recap the information we've discussed during the phone call and cover any additional information that we may not have spoken about.
Any information that is posted on our social media channels comes straight from the source, so as to avoid any conjecture.
Speaking of which, my institution is updating our brochure to ensure that the information is as relevant and accurate as possible.
I have also tutored some of our other staff and gave them a "cheatsheet" of what they can and cannot say during their interactions with prospective students.
Norlan ,
We should be held accountable as that is what makes us strong.
Patty Aronoff
I can help with this process by holding evceryone accountable within our rules and regulatory practices.
Thelma,
Spending the time with the student will pay off in the long run. It is important as they are dependent upon us for the information
Patty Aronoff
Maria,
If we do not, we are setting the student up for failure. Then we both lose when the student drops.
Patty Aronoff
First I spend quality time with the prospective student to get to know and understand their expectations. I also discuss their previous education in detail and their ability to complete tasks that they start. I am very detailed in my presentations of the time and energy needed to complete our program in class as well as home time that will be needed.
Always keeping honesty and integrity when communicationg with them.
I plan to share this knowledge with the entire staff to ensure all departments are compliant with rules and regs when communicating with students.
Honesty is the best policy. Building a report with the student is very important and also making sure that they meet with all the admissions requirements. When conducting an interview I provide the student with the right information because the most important thing is to make sure that they are able to start and complete the program they enroll in. Remember that at the end of the day they are the ones investing the time and money.
milay,
That final interview is an important one. It brings another opportunity to make sure this is the right fit.
Patty Aronoff
Autumn,
Excellent process! You are taking important steps to insure the student is aware and prepared.
Patty Aronoff
Betsy,
Ecellent practice! Finding the right fit will help to insure a successful and rewarding educational experience.
Patty Aronoff
It is extremely important that the student understand not only what course they are enrolling into ensuring that it is exactly what they want and expect but also that they know what to expect throughout the course of their program and after graduation as well; is not as easy in the graduate world as it used to be and they need to know that before hand.
The final enrolling step in our school is a brief meeting of the student with the administration where the Campus President, Director of Education and Program Director can make sure that enrollment process was done in full compliance.
As the sole admissions representative of a small school, I conduct the admissions interview and tour of each person exploring the possibility of attending our school. I have honest and strait-forward conversations with them to be certain that their expectations are realistic and that they can meet the demands of being a student (schedule, academics, transportation, childcare... etc.) and the field they are training to work in. After ensuring they have met the admissions requirements, I personally read the enrollment agreement with them and frequently stop to ask, "Do you have any questions about that?"
I find that being transparent throughout the admissions process is advantageous for both the school and the student. A school's reputation and integrity are built on the experience of the people who attend.
Jeanette,
It should not drop off there. The most successful representatives build a communication link throughout the student experience. They are your potential link to more enrollments.
Patty Aronoff
Christina,
Respect is so important. Giving respect shows the school cares in the prospective student's future.
Patty Aronoff
We make sure to have an admissions sheet which outlines the admissions requirements and audit applicants against those requirements. We also discussion relevant information about the program and have several student interviews between faculty and admissions to learn about what the students is interested in, what their goals are, what their expectations are, etc. so we can make sure we are on the same page.
Touching base with enrolled students within the first 30days establishes a line of communication and open door policy with the school. Through that line of communication, students are encourage to communicate their experience during the enrollment process.
Honesty and respect are two very important things when making an enrollment, the students visualize a good image of the institution to which they will belong.
