Social networking sites have been a great way for us to spread the word about our programs and mission, as well as keep students up to date on closings, events, etc.
Social networking sites have increased the capabilities of connecting with prospective students and keep a connection with the students when they are enrolled. The cons of social networking sites are that if a student has a bad experience, that could cloud the judgement of prospective students when looking for a school to attend.
Hmmmm, this is a very good question. I wonder if our school has a soctial networking group... I'm sure they do, but I have not come across it as of yet. I will look into this. What a great way to expand marketing efforts. These forums are full of so many excellent resources!
We do not use social networks to contact potential students. There are too many risks that are associated with them when it comes to company representation, so the company does not permit it.
SNS are a huge impact on the millinneal generation. Most of them have learned to function mainly on the internet from socializing to research for educational purposes. To keep up with the growing times institutions need to be aware of the interests in the potential students they are trying to target.
I definitely agree with this. Many of our students and prospective students check out our Campus Facebook page. It's updated everyday by student services and when students or families ask questions, they are always answered in a timely manner. I think that speaks loads as to the type of school we are and that we are willing and very able to adapt to the times and stay on top of communications with students/families through every means possible.
Yes we do a marketing plan that includes social networking sites. However all guidelines must still be followed for each state.
Social Networking enables us to have another tool to connect with students but at the same time I am hesistant to contact students through sites such as Facebook primarily because it's a leisure website rather than a site where you want to discuss business type matters. Overall, I am for using social networking sites for this purpose however, I think the agent needs to realize which site they are using and if contacting them for business is a common theme.
We don't use it for recruitment. Concerns of communication violations may come into play. Potential students did not authorize us to contact them via these means.
Social networking sites have helped affect communications with prospective students.MJCC does have a marketing plan that includes the use of socila networking sites.
Social networks like facebook have effected our job in the fact that I am aware that other Admissions Representatives have been contacted by students through them. We are not allowed to have contacts with students through these sites as it is unprofessional and could possibly increase chances of problems with client/ employee guidelines.
We are not allowed to communicate with current or prospective students on social networking sites.
As an admissions representative I am not to use any social networks (such as Facebook) to communicate with my prospective or current students. I have no problem with this. I would much rather just have the school itself have their own account and refer students to that.
With such networks like Facebook & Twitter I feel this will give colleges and universities another communication outlet for students & prospective students. The fact that these networks are available online, mobile, in internet cafe' etc is a great opportunity to engage prospective students at any arena in their life. As of now out university doesn't have a formal marketing plan to include social networks, but I'm sure it's underway.
No, we do not have a plan for using the soical networking sites. I beleive that it is the wave of the future and this will be the new way of communicating with prospective students.
We also cannot be friends with students on social networking sites.
I believe that social networking sites are great for prospective students but they are also great for current students. I believe it makes the current students feel like they are a part of a group!
The marketing plan for our school is still in development, however, we do advertise on facebook and that has been very helpful in lead generation. It's also been our experience that leads generated from facebook are serious prospects and quickly enroll after the first inquiry.
I am eager to see how launching our own campus facebook page will help to engage the students. I see it as a great possible platform for referrals.
We are currently blocked from using facebook. So, i have never socially marketed to prospects.
