I would like to learn more about the differences between similar programs such as Medical Assisting vs Nursing, Business Management vs a normal "Business" degree, etc so that I can better advise students which route might be best for them.

Camron,

Great suggestion. This is a very important area that all agents should be concerned with.

I would like to make sure that I have a working knowledge of each resource available to the student. With this knowledge I will be able to address any concerns that the student may present, which in turn will make the student feel comfortable and confident in their choice to enroll into Everest Institute!

Looking at current trends in higher education, I would to do some training on student retention and techniques of keeping them engaged. Student retention, especially for online students, is a hot topic and I feel as an industry that we need to get creative and find ways to keep students working towards their goals. I personally hate to see my students drop from school before completing their degree, as we all know this leaves them in a worse position than when than started.

Learning about the programs are essential to assisting prospective students in the choice they will make to change thier lives.
I also think that dealing with diversity would benefit the agent when talking with prospective students.

Other areas that would interest me for future training opprotunities include learning how to recognize the "why's" behind the questions we ask our potential students. I feel that this would be beneficial for all the admissions representatives because they would be more effective in directing the potential student towards the right education plan.

I would welcome the opportunity to have more training on how to explore new and untapped ways to garner attention and advertising. Things can be utulized so much sooner if someone skilled in the area just trains and exposes others to it.

Yes. I agree continual product training on the courses and programs and other student service sessions we offer. With constant product training and reinforcing the knowledge of what our institution offers makes it harder to forget and also I will be better prepared for when I am asked a question regarding a certain topic there is no hesitation on y part. In any sells position product knowledge is important and you have to know your product in order to sale it to the right individual who may be looking to purchase from you.

As a future training, I would be interested in seeing or hearing examples of what not to do as well as positive successful examples that are in complaince.

Training should be thourough and ongoing. From initial to advanced training the message should be one of staying on top with the latest in the industry - staying compliant; involving other departments where applicable; individual and team training all of course being documented each time.

Everyday is a new opportunity to learn something new. Things change from day to day and you have to make sure you take advantage of learning everything out there. You are never too young(old) to learn, so training at any level is a great way to make sure you are up to date with reality.

Vicki,

I think that would be a great idea for all schools to implement.

I worked at a school once that had us take training on every area of the school- ie financial aid, admissions, career services, etc. This gave us the opportunity to understand what each and every department does. This in turn gave me an opportunity to share information with others- it may not have been extensive, but atleast I had an understanding. That would be my recommendation or request.

Communication is key no matter the department. Admissions needs to know a little of everything but of course their own repsonsibilities

Updates of course. But, I believe that all of the areas involving recruiting/admissions should be included and discussed at least once a year to bring up any new rules or changes.

Internally it is important for schools to be sure agents are well informed of the programs offered at the campus.

i think that if anything changes in the class rooms the chair of the program should train us on it so we can stay informed

Cosign, the more knowledge we have of our programs, the better prepared we are to answer questions from perspective students. I think it can be very easy to get complacent and fall behind the times. As referenced in the training. We must stay on top of changes to our schools and its programs.

all aspects. we constantly have refresher courses and web ex's and internal training and exams to stay up to date and to make sure that we are informed on everything to be the best at what we do and to make sure that we offer the best possible enrollment expierence possible.

Understanding different departments woudl be a good trainign session so that we can get an inside look at what goes on behind the scenes. Learning about the education department and how they deal with student progress is always an area of interest.
