Not Surprised, but my Generational Style is Gen X. However, I do see attributes from other generational styles. Being raised by my grandparents and within my family all together. Considered myself to be a human sponge. I love collaborating with others. Very colorful in aura, and can adapt in many different environments. Very competitive, in a fun way and have an entrepreneurial spirit. Have made many connections through various social media sites. Constantly staying connected with the world and how I can contribute to today's society!

Thank you for sharing your insight, Yvette. Many individuals find that they relate to the characteristics of other generations based on their upbringing, history, and beliefs. How might this awareness help you in connecting with your students?

I AM A 60 YEAR OLD WOMAN WHO FALLS UNDER THE GENERATION X CHARACTERISTICS. THIS IS DUE TO MY UPBRINGINGS GROWING UP PARTLY IN THE ISLAND OF HAITI AND IN THE U.S.

Great insights, Richard. It sounds like your parents have had a great influence on you and your work ethic. I imagine there are other qualities of the Baby Boomer generation that you appreciate and exhibit based on your parents. Thanks for sharing your observation.

Although I was born in 1982 I have more qualities of a Baby Boomer than Generation X. Both of my parents are Baby Boomers and I am an only child so most of my life has been spent around them. I am a workaholic and very ambitious much like my parents.

Interesting. Thanks for sharing your personal observations, Josh!

Probably the directness of the traditional. And the body language of the gen x'ers.

Excellent observation, Josh, thank you for sharing. What specific traits from each generation do you most identify with?

my style is a combination of generation x and traditionalist i think. i am a product of my generation, born in 75 but i was very close to my granfather--whose values had a big impact.

Thanks for sharing, Jason. It sounds to me like you try to be cognizant of the individuals in front of you and adapt to their styles. Keep up the good work!

I find the two groups you mentioned like face to face talks that get straight to the point. They like the facts laid out for them in a precise manner before they make their decision.

I deal strictly with HS seniors and their parents. So I might be able to use Humor with the student but often need to back of the humor with the parent (buying commitee). It is an interesting scenario to say the least.

Great insights, Jason. How would you adapt your style to the style of let's say a Gen X'er or a Baby Boomer? What might you do differently?

Millennial without a doubt. Growing up with the rise of technology (internet, cell phones) directly led to this.

Thanks Ashley. It sounds like you can relate to several different generational groups. Just think what the next generations will bring into the mix.

I relate to both Baby Boomer and Gen X. With regards to how I communicate, I relate more to the Baby Boomers. I use body language and a direct style of speech and I analyze everything. I relate to gen X in that I care about my quality of work life, I do not do well being micro mnaged and I'm absolutely a "google-er"!

Thanks for the input Ashley. It is great that you can identify with more than one group. This will allow you to be able to relate well to others. Did you find anymore similarities to other generational groups?

Although I'm 25, and I do relate to Millennials in that I am absolutely part of the cyber generation and believe feedback is essential, I also greatly relate to Baby Boomers. I’m very direct with my speech, I believe in challenging the system, and feel that hard work should result in climbing the ladder.

Thanks Sara. That is great awareness. These styles are generalizations and so it is great when you have a variety of skillsets as you can relate to other generations as well.

I am a Gen X'r, but as I was doing the quiz I noticed that I have characteristics of other generational styles too. For example I like immediate and constant feedback which is more a millennial type of generational preference. I also prefer collaborative and teamwork environment, which seemed to be a babyboomer generational preference.

Adalinda, what a great awareness. Yes, the people you spend time with can influence how you work or think. What specific characteristics do you possess that fall into the baby boomer or millennial generations?
