The catalog is a key component in the success of the student and the employees right hand to help guide the student in understaning the expectations and rules of the company. I keep my catalog at arms reach at all times.

Very well said. The catalog should always be considered a legal and binding document. When working with student, state or federal complaints the catalog is taken into consideration.

The catalog contains the school policies, graduation requirements and grievance procedures in addition to curriculum information. It is an extension of the enrollment agreement and holds both the school and the students to the policies within. The catalog is a roadmap to the institution.
Catalog contains all the important guidelines and conditions for the course. It is a great tool to form correct expectations towards the program and the school. I find it reassuring for both the students and the employees to be able to have all the major issues in one single document
The catalog outlines all the important aspects of being a student. It encompasses every major area (Admissions, FA, Education, Career Services, etc)
This is the go-to for the student. It is what the school must follow on an decisions including, appeals & grievances, transfer credits, ADA, behavior issues, SAP, externship etc.
This important "document" protects both the student and the instituion. When a policy does change an addendum to the catalog must be created.
Catalogs are crucial to students and employees as it is a guide that contains all pertinent information about the school and program.
Establishing guidlines and policies and cirriculum is always a win win move. It keeps most expectations within the relm of the program. As a resource guide, students have the infomation to contact all the services available, or at least a starting point, pertaining to the school. It is a resource guide and reminder for both student and faculty/admissions.
Yes, we have a responsibility to encourage students to read the catalog. The catalog will provide the disclosures, information about policies and procedures, and set forth the standard of complaint resolution If the student has committed to enroll, the prospect also has a responsibility to know and understand how one should govern themselves as a student, the school's expectations of a student, and as a student what a student should expect from the school.

The catalog acts as a most invaluable tool for both the student and school representatives. It is informative and instructive as it lays out all of the basics in black and white. A serious student would read their catalog cover to cover getting a good picture of what to expect and what are the schools expectations.

You reference an excellent point when you mention that the catalog may protect the school and the student. Many people see the catalog as only a reference point for delivering information but it is actually a the extension of the enrollment agreement.

The catalog is an essential tool for the employee because it allows the employee have a place to verify data when speaking with a student or perspective student. The catalog may also protect an employee legally. The student can use the catalog to better understand what the program requires and to see specifically what each course will offer. The catalog also details campus rules.

The catalogue is an essential tool for all our students, in essence it lays out all of the students’ rights and responsibilities. It works in conjunction with the enrollment agreement and as such is part of the contract between what we have promised the student and what we expect of the student.

I think the catalog is valuable to students because it gives them an overview of what to expect and what we expect from them. I think it also is a guide and helpful tool to look at as an employee to see how our school operates and what it says about us...it helps us to work to that standard
Catalogs are critical because it gives clear and accurate information about the program.
The school catalog is so valuable because it holds you to accountability to what you are telling your student and employees and not only that it allows students to see the type of school they may or may not attend. It gives them a mind set of what is expected and what we require and offer.
Our catalog is a very important document because it contains clear statements of our commitments to, and expectations of our students and graduates. Our catalog informs students of our history, our accrediting agencys, approvals and memberships. The catalog discloses our company ownership and Board of Directors. It identifies our program offerings and introduces new students to our faculty, administrative staff and leadership. After the information about their individual programs, perhaps the most important information provided to students in our catalog are the Student Code of Conduct and the Grievance Procedure. When I speak at New Student Orientation, I ask the attendees to raise their hands if they received a catalog - all hands go up. I ask how many know where their copy of the catalog is, and an alarming number of hands go down. I encourage our students (and staff) to keep their catalog copy handy and to review it often.
