I'm going to give this a try. On my evaluations from students I get a 50/50 response to my handing out grades in a timely manner. I always grade homework, tests and quizes the same day and give them the results that day. So it has to be more about perception. If I give them a sample of the grade matrix, let them keep track of their grades and let them know they can get an update on their letter grade at any time, maybe they will feel more informed.

Hi Rebecca:
Right, students basically want to to do their best most of the time. Sharing grades, staus, and giving your time and suggestions can be invaluable.

Hi Dewee:
I agree and share your sentiments.

Hi Wendy:
Your attention and time you give your students may never be veralized but always appreciated by your students. Good job!

Hi Rebecca:
I agree. When students know how they're doing they're more likely to try to make improvements. Also, early intervention provides more time for correction, if needed.

Hi Latissha:
I like to use the time to both inform students avbout grades, but also to see if AI can assist them in other areas. Not everyone wants that much personal attention, but many do, and I want to be there for the student iof they need it.

Providing student status serves as an on-going evaluation tool of student progress. It can also serve as an evaluation tool for the instructor by allowing for potential dialogue between instructor and learner.

Adult learners want to sucessed. I have a no suprise policy, keeping them informed of thier progeress lets them focus on what they need to improve on. It also gives me time to work with them one on one if needed.
Rebecca

Keeping the students informed at all tiems builds thier confidence(hopefully). Lets them focus on their areas of need and lets me correct their mistakes through out the course.

I believe it is very important for the student to be informed of their current grade status because there are no surprises come final grade. When the student is aware there have been problems with them turing in homework and this is 15% of the grade then they have a pretty good idea what they need to improve on. I try to show the students the importance of doing homework and how it supports the subject matter that is being discussed during the week. Other students have commented how it also helps when they do their exam at the end of the week.

Students will know if they need to improve.

Hi Ellen:
I think students just do better when they know their status in a course. Even it's it's not great, they want to know where they stand. I think it also gives the teacher an opportunity to listen to the student and be ready to assist in classroom and even personal matters, if the student feels like they need to share.

Students deserve to know ASAP how their study efforts are paying off. Each tests is important to assess learning of each individual student and to keep each student on track and motivated to build upon knowledge already learned.

This is to inform the student of their status i the class. And to offer them advise on study habits or test taking skills.

By keeping the students imformed of how they are doing, they can ask for help. And improve before the grades are final

Having an accurate understanding of where the student is can only serve to motivate them. If you don't want a student to improve, give them an A.

Hi Kenneth:
Students seem like they always want to know how they're doing, even if they sense they're not doing well. Regular discussions with students helps them understand their grades but also reinforces the relationship the teacher has with their students. That's always a good thing.

always have a fair and accurate form of evaluating students. Be fair while grading.

Hi Aprilyn:
Right, and I think students deserve to know their standing pretty much right up to the minute. Having to wait days or weeks to receive quiz or test scores is not satisfactory. I also agree many students get comptitive with their performance, so they need to know the current progress.

Hi Raegan:
This sounds like a good system. I like that you sit with the student to discuss their performance. I think that may give you an opportunity to talk about other questions the student may have, or even just to content to reinforce your relationship.
