I plan to be more agressive at defining what is stressfull and identifying what it is I am already doing about it - perhaps unknowingly. Then I will make a more educated plan to help identify and hopefully eleviate those stress factors. This will help me be more relaxed and at point to deal with daily situations better.
More afternoon walks and using breathing techniques thoughout the day.
Excellent Jorge! That's a small change but can make a huge difference in terms of the way you feel and how easily you fall asleep at night.
This is true Pierre! Having a new perspective can completely change our stress experience.
Wow, those are great ideas Jennifer! Music can completely change the tone of the workplace. And interactive games can really pass the time.
The more time I spend with horses in a NON veterinary way really reduces my stress. It's no secret that horses can help people with their mental health, and stress reduction. That's how I cope.
When my co-workers and I find ourselves stressed out during a busy day we always play music throughout the hospital and use humor to lighten the mood.
We create silly little games to play while we are working such as name a music artist that starts with the letter E or name the tune/artist that is playing on the radio. It helps pass the time and pretty soon we all start laughing and the day doesn't seem so unbearable!
Stress should be managed carefully. Everybody experience some through their life. Stress should be handled the same way a person is learning from previous mistake and moving forward without repeating them. The willingness to go through diverse transformations and to temper emotions could restraint or subdue most stress negative effects. By putting our life in prospective sometimes and simply look at what really matters stress can be eliminated or reduced significantly.
i have cut out caffine from my daily routine
I will most certainly solicate the help of my fellow instructors for aids in my nutrition and cost control class. This class is a bit out of my comfort zone, and seeing what other instructors use for exams, worksheets and lectures will be very helpful.
Yes, balancing things in moderation is really key Amanda.
Exercise, and balance all things in moderation
with family, friends, work, is a good way to be creative, and healthy trade
Oh it took practice believe me. I nearly had to have a nervous breakdown before I started learning how to deal with it. But eventually I got it down. I have even run into students of mine on the weekends and failed to recognize them because they are so far out of my mind. LOL
It sounds like you have a great strategy for coping with stress Scott. Most instructors have a really hard time leaving work at work. It's amazing that you can put it down like that.
These are all great ideas John. Taking a few moments to yourself at your desk can be a perfect way to break up the day.
I will try to schedule more exercise into my schedule, both in "off hours" as well as in the work environment to break up the stress. I often sit at my desk, try to close my eyes and take deep breaths for just a couple of minutes in between classes. Try not to "sweat the small stuff". John Eliassen
I am actually excellent at dealing with such things. First, I long ago learned the art of leaving work at work. In other words when I am not at work I realize there's nothing I can do about what is happening there so I don't worry about it. I have mastered this to such a degree that the moment I leave work it will not even cross my mind until I am on my way back to work. I also use my leisure time wisely in order to blow off steam and recharge my batteries. I make sure to have some actual fun in my life to avoid burnout and I use meditation to clam myself as well.
Healthy coping mechanisms that I can add to my life are yoga classes once or twice a week.
Sharing with good friends who lend a ear will be a good way to ease some stress.
Taking a short walk or run before or after class may ease stress that build sup at the base of the neck resulting in headaches and more.
Dogs often can set great examples for us in coping with stress. For example, dogs stretch regularly. We could learn a thing or two by watching them.
One of best mechanisms to reduce stress are my dogs! Giving them a hug, their wagging tails is huge! And they love to go for a walk...they need it and I need it. We get our exercise and fresh air. I can even talk my "problems" over with them...as long as there is a treat involved, they will listen.
