Interaction helps to build those relationships with students. If there is no interaction then how are they supposed to feel that you are helping them?
Interaction with students will help students buy into the course and stimulate participation.
It is important to show them that you care and that you are not just there to teach them a subject and leave. It you show interest I think you gain more trust from your students.
Interactions with student can help them out of their comfort zone and allow them to see that it is OK to participate. I like to involve students in critical thinking, open discussions. generally helps student understand a subject a bit better.
Hi Tammy,
Super! You do a fine job of interacting with your students. I especially like how you greet your students daily by their name.

I make it a point every day to acknowledge each student as the walk in by name. At the end of each topic I ask if everyone is with me. Before I continue I look around the room at each person face for non verbal queues of understanding.
I feel it is important to interact with students in order to make a connection with them. They need to know that your not just there to feed them information, but that you really care about their success and future. By building a relationship with them they will, hopefully, feel more comfortable in coming to you with concerns or additional help they may need.
Hi Paula,
We have to make our students feel very important because they are.

The tecniques used here also work well in a private practice setting. In dental hygiene you deal one on one with patients and they have alot of the same issues the students have so I can see myself using some of what I have learned with my patients
In order to gain respect from the students. It shows that you respect there time and feel that there education is important
One on one is very important to see how the student is responding to lessons and to establish a student teacher relationship. You need to have a certain trust established so students will come to you when there is a need. I like my students to know I am there for them and that I will work just as hard to get them to their goal. That is my reward and I enjoy doing it. You have to have a passion for what you do or it shows.

Our job as instructors is to educate and motivate. You have to interact with all of your students to keep up on how each one is progressing. I also interact with all my students on a daily basis to see if there is any behavioral changes that could indicate any issues towards getting the best education they can. Even those students that are "aceing" the course need to be interacted with especially towards the end of the course. I find towards the end of a term all students start to lose motivation and drive. So I like to keep things interesting esecially towards the end of the term and in turn keep everybodys motivation up.
Feeling ignored or unnoticed is the worst. I make it my personal goal to involve all the students to an equal degree. Of course, it's a two-way street, but I feel that if I can interact with all of them fairly frequently, they will be excited and attentive in class. It discourages zoning out.
It makes them feel as the are part of the group. By listening to the student and what they have to say and offer to the class you as an instructor will be able to short circuit some problems before they get to big to resolave.
It is important to have interaction with all of your students because it shows the student you are not just the instructor you are also a person. If you talk to your students and get to know them it makes the student feel more comfortable with you and your class.
Many time I find that my students don't have a clue (for the most part) about interaction with instructors or any athority figure. With patience, understanding, and a willingness to hear what they are saying leads to better classroom relationship building, and eventually to relationship building with their peers at the job site.
Hi ELIZABETH,
It sounds like you have a good rapport with your students. It makes a win-win situation for all when the instructor has a good professional relationship with their students.

Hi Stephanie,
Absolutely! We must treat every student the same.
Patricia Scales
Every student should be treated as an individual and not just a name or number. The students come from different backgrounds and they are looking up to someone who will not only be their instructor, but someone who is approachable and has their best interests at heart. I interact with my students at all times and they warm up to me. This makes it easier for me to keep them on track with their school assignments. The students in my class are aware of what is of expected of them and I at times give them extra work which they accomplish without complaining.
Having interaction with every student, as opposed to a few or the same students all the time, shows that you are fair and consistent with ALL of your students. You want to make each student feel as though you care about his/her success in their field, and that you are there to help them achieve that.
