Andrea,
The school will provide true data as maintained by Career Services and reported to CIE annually.

I am curious when a prospective applicant asks for placement stats what info we are required to provide.

We need to make sure that we do not quote salaries. It is important because my school has students from all over the country and salaries differ depending on what part of the country they live in.

Ryan,
Salaries are very precarious topics. It is best that the student research but even that is not a guarantee they will get the same amount of money.

Christina,
The basic formula for dealing with prospective students is the same in that we cannot mislead.

James,
They protect the student and the institution through Fair Consumer Practices.

Elisabeth,
The rules and regulations protect us all.

David,
Your analogy is well taken. We need to be diligent in keeping on the right road.

Well, I think you need a good understanding of the rules and regulations that govern the process. I believe these are in place to make sure a student's best interests are best served. The rules and regulations also help as a guide to the process, a road map. They help provide structure to a process that can get off track.

The regulatory requirements ensure compliance; protecting the institution, the admissions representative, but (most importantly) the student/consumer.

They give the school guidelines in order to operate

I work in the financial aid department this give us guidelines that help the school operate successfully.

I work in Financial aid; however, it was extremely informative and helpful because I learned what the rules and regulations are. It was great to know what can be said to students and how important it is to educate ourselves and especially the student.

The guidelines help to protect the student and the representative. They are created so that information isn't misrepresented. For example, salary ranges for certain job positions shouldn't be misrepresented just to enroll a student... therefore, we refer them to bls.gov for that information.

The CIE provides me the guidelines needed when advising the students. Should any question arise, I can always refer to the CIE, and if necessary show this to the student as well, further making the necessary point.

Greg,
Exactly! The rules are to protect everyone.

Reinaldo,
Fair consumer practices protect both the student and the school. They should be first and foremost when dealing with admissions.

It is extremely important not to mislead a prospective student, and by following the CIE rules and the Fair Consumer Practices, you can be assured of this. This protects the school, as well as the student.

It is important to follow the fair consumer practices and institutions policies, so not to mislead prospective students.

Ivy,
Good advice and practices are key for admission reps.
