Disgruntled IT Student

I like to motivate my students with a You-Can-Do-It attitude.

True IT student story:

I had a student who was always disgruntled with the class labs, and materials. He was always saying, “This stuff doesn’t work correctly, how can I learn anything from this?” My answer was, turn negative things into positive things. The more things that don’t work, the more you have to try to fix it with results of learning more. After all, what is to be learned from something that always works? If that were the case, employers would not need trained employees to fix these problems.… >>>

slower learners

Most adult students just need to be led in the right direction and they almost teach themselves.  Others need more one-on-one tutoring in order to learn basic concepts.  Usually once basic knowledge is retained by slower learners they can continue progressing through the course.  Just sitting with a student and discussing various ways to study material helps motivate.  It not only show you care but many people have lost study skills or never learned them in earlier educational settings and explaining how to study puts a student on the right path.  These are the people we  are really "teaching."  They are… >>>

Breakin' It Down!

I believe the key to success in education is learning how to use the "tools" provided. I have had brillant students scholastically that could not put it together in real world application. I've had motivated students that couldn't master scholastics but with a little instruction in note taking and test taking they whizzed through.

Refresher for instructors

In this never ending fast paced world, it was very interesting taking the course on Time management. It reminded me to plan, revise, rethink, etc.  We, as instructors get so caught up in things we forget and then begin to get overwhelmed especially trying to work (at least one full time job) and take care of our family.

Good reminder to stop and take a breath. Everyone makes out better.

E101

Course had material that will be very helpful.  I really enjoyed it.

Great Learning tool

Being a new instructor, these courses has helped me a great deal.  I will take this information and utilize it in my classrooms and with my students

great classes

I am really benefitting from these online courses   I am getting great information and new ideas.

ED 310

I enjoyed the medical terminology course.  I did this one in parts and I would have preferred to do all the same day.  My retention is better for me, but it gave ideas I will use.

ED111

I didn't see a group for ED111 (Active Learning).  I just completed this course and thought it was very interesting how many teachers must be on auto pilot because most successful teachers probably automatically incorporate most of these activities anyway...but that's good to know!

I am really benefitting from the online courses chosen from our company.  I am retaining information and new ideas myself.  I hope I will be able to deliver the new ideas with as much enthusiasm as I am experiencing completing the training courses.

Ed101

Very imformative course.  I gained a lot of insight that I din't know but on the otherhand, knowledge that I already had was truly enhanced or I was reminded of it.

What I got out of the CEE classes

I have enjoyed learning new activities and productive ways to keep my studnets enthused!

ED 101

I did not think I would like this CEE, but I think I will benefit from it.

ED-106 Students w/English as the Learning Language

It was quite interesting to learn and understand how to work with students who are faced with English as a learning language.  I now understand why foreign students who are not fluent in the English language have a problem with understanding directions with assignments, test or even materials covered in the text book.  After studying this portion of the lesson, I will be a lot more patient and able to tolerate the students better.

I just took the 101 lesson and I think it was great in giving you different ways to lecture and starting a class off for the first time.

Enjoying my Classes

This course was very interesting.  As a new teacher, I have been using the test banks from the book companies.  Many times they have been adiquate, however, one book I am using seems to be a nightkmare.  I am looking forward to revamping thier material into more readable questions and getting more feed back from students.
