Motivation

The desire to learn and succeed in life is the self motivation need to achieve your goals. When I am motivated to complete a task I don't think of it as work. I try to convince myself the value of what I am doing will benefit me.

Knowledge is Power

Instructors should never stop learning new and innovative ways of reaching our audience. We should continuely pursue new and effective ways to re-charge and deliver exciting lectures, lesson plans and hands on assginments.

Re: The importance of learning styles for educators

Learning styles vary and should be considered when teachinng (e.g., Gardner's learning types). This should be brought into line with the latest learning taxonomies (e.g., Fink).

Re: The importance of learning styles for educators

It is important to always consider different learning styles and types when teaching adult students. Often, I will gravitate back-and-forth between dicussion, lecture and small group activities based on problem-solving scenarios. In this case, each style is addressed.

Internet resources

Can anyone post up websites that help instructors teach math with an emphasis on common core curriculum.

ED113

In my opinion, patience’s, good voice inflection, passion for the lesson being taught, and previous experience in that field of study all are important  for good classroom management. Learning more knowledge about the four basic classroom management techniques actually has assisted in me altering my approach when in the adult classroom. Simply implementing the use of “I” instead of “You” when addressing students who are disruptive should be the quickest fix of all, and should get my point across more effectively. Being polite and encouraging are other skills that will also make for good classroom management.

Onboarding

This should be incorporated into the new hire onboarding process.

EL105

I have struggled to come up with ideas on discussion posts. EL105 was a great resource for me to learn how to make discussion posts more effective and to do some problem-solving on some of the biggest challenges I have encountered in discussion posts.

Influencing Student Motivation

I really learned alot from this session. The information shared will help in positively motivated and engaging the students in a adult learning environment. Although some of the information I have been introduced before such as multiple assessments and frequent feedback it is important to reinforce those keys to ensure that in depth learning is taking place in the classroom. This is a very useful course.

online courses

online courses is very useful specially when student is working student. plus some students are shy to attend regular students. so we have to give them a chance to learn and educate them self.

Classroom management

I got a lot out of this program. I think it would benefit all instructors especially new faculty to take this program upon hiring!

EL108 course-Very imformative

I am very glad I took this course as it helped reinforced what I have been doing in the past.  I am presently applying these practices in my online classes such as in the area of typical writing guide which includes making sure that my students are equipped with planning, preparation, the writing itself, researching information to be written, citing the sources, making revisions where necessary and finally completing the document for submission.

Other areas that I am using now is that of effective communication which involves clear, professional and appropriate language.  To engage student in effective communication, I am… >>>
