ED 311 Creative Teaching Tools in Clinical and Didactic Courses

This course provided multiple ways to create a learning environment through creative incentives.  Something that came to mind as I took this course, the importance of student involvement.  Every single one of the suggested techniques incorporated the basic fundamentals of student involvement.  I'ts amazing how something so simple, can have such a powerful affect in the learning environment.  I thoroughly enjoyed taking this course.  I like to think of it as the art of teaching.

9 Questions to Ask About a Goal - Part 2 of 3

Setting strategic goals is a major step in the ongoing process of managing and evaluating organizational performance. In our last blog we began addressing nine questions to help ensure that each developed goal, embedded in an organization's strategic planning process, is, in fact, obtainable. We looked at the first three questions: Is the goal SMART? Does the goal align with the mission and core values of the organization? Does the goal address both opportunities and challenges? In today's blog we address the next three questions (stay tuned for additional blogs that will continue our topic). 4. Does the goal… >>>

Great Session

Enjoyed this session.  Learned a great deal of information on how the brain works.

Kindness goes a long way

This course was awesome as it taught me to see how my students sees me from their point of view.  Speaking to them in terms that they can relate to goes a lot longer than beating them up.  My students are more responsive and not afraid to ask questions in need.

3 Benefits of Using 21st Century Technology in the Classroom

Technology continues to evolve at a rapid pace.  In today’s world, using technology is just as fundamental as reading, writing and arithmetic; thus, technology integration in the classroom is as much about engaging students as it is about reinforcing much needed work skills.  What are some of the benefits of using technology in the classroom?

1.  Promote Collaborative Learning – Connective technologies enable massive-scale collaboration despite physical separation.  Social networking outlets allow learners to reach outside their circle of friends and communicate and collaborate with learners with different viewpoints, social constraints, and varied socio-economic levels.  Using social networks… >>>

ED113 - Styles of Classroom Management

I just completed the ED113 course on classroom Management styles. This course really helped me think about what I do as an instructor to managed my own classes. It also reinforced that things that I am doing right in interacting with my students. I have been teaching for over 20 years, and it can become easy to slip into an apathetic role if you are not careful. If you are a person that is not opened to change, then you will keep doing the same old thing the same old way. This class has taught me that I am at a… >>>

9 Questions to Ask About a Goal - Part 1 of 3

This blog addresses the first three questions (stay tuned for additional blogs that will continue our topic)! 1. Is the goal SMART? Most of us may already know what a SMART goal is, but the acronym still proves to be important to goal realization. First the goal must be Specific. A general or broad goal is harder to evaluate, more difficult to implement and leads to ineffective results because there are no specific parameters to define what the goal is suppose to accomplish. Second, the goal must be Measurable; this characteristic goes hand-in-hand with Specific. A goal that is… >>>

Cool Classroom Tools

This class was extremely helpful with new techniques to use on our students.  I have used some already with outstanding results

I enjoyed this class. I think it will be very helpful in my future teaching. I learned how to deal with several situations that may occur in the classroom. Having a good knowledge base related to teaching is important as well as experience in the field.

    • How do we best position young Americans for the challenges of the 21st Century?

Time and Stress Management

ED110  I will say that everybody shound know the time and stress management.

The Importance of Debriefing

For me, the most interesting and useful information in ED107 was that pertaining the importance of debriefing. I have not been doing much of this at all in my classes. But now, I am looking forward to the next class, excited to see how much implementation of this technique might help to improve results.

Thanks,

Stephen

Rubrics are a great tool

I really enjoyed the information learned in this course. Many of the practices I've been (unknowingly) partaking in for a few years, but have had to re-evaluate and change my rubric over the past few months to better fit the quality of the project and or learners.

Technology!!

I love that this course offerred some deeper insight on the technology used to excite and help motivate the learners in an online environment. I personally believe that any school (whether elementary or college) should have great visuals to stimulate it's audience.
