new to teaching

i am new to teaching, and have the new teacher nerves. i am going to stay positive, and then try to use many different types of teaching, so as to best help the students to comprehend what the meterial is about.

I made a mistake!

How do you approach your students when you find that you have make a mistake? How do you deal with their reactions?

ED102

I really enjoyed the sections regarding student motivation, as it gave me resources to reflect back on how to re-charge my enthusiasm batteries to instill/ reinforce a positive attitude regarding the students' career choice.

ED 111

I just finished ED 111 and it shows what I am doing in class is a good start with my students.  I already have lectures with discussions.  I also use small groups that later present the information to the class.  They start out seated as a group and by the end of class they present in front of the class.  I did learn a few other ideas to try in class.  The biggest thing is to not be afraid to try something new.

ED108

What are some of your strategies when reviewing quizzes/exams?

Great Course ED 107

I have done a similar course a few years back, but I certainly learned new strategies to facilitate learning in the classroom.

Great!

This was a great course! I learned a lot.

ed101

this was a really good course!! learned a lot..

ED105

Just finished ED105. I really enjoyed it as it was pertinent information that would be an assest to any professor.

ED311

I absolutely loved this course! Michelle Deck is "AWESOME!" I'm defintely going to incorporate the new ideas I've learned into the classroom.

Great opportunity

This course was very useful. This was a great oppurtunity to learn about how important listening skills are

ED103

I just finished ED103 and I found it to be very informative.  I did find that the latter modules seemed more like an overview than the earlier modules, which was a bit disappointing.  Perhaps I can find other courses to take that might discuss assessment in greater depth.  I also hope to take courses that focus more specifically on general education, as that is my area of instruction.  It was nice, however, to learn a bit about how the techincal courses are assessed at these technical colleges.  Thanks for offering this and other courses!

ED101

Great course to give an overview of educational terms, lesson planning and learning styles.  Excellent for new instructors.

ED 109 What a great course but lengthy

Ed 109 is a great course but a lot for one sitting! I recommend taking 1 lesson a day. I tried 2 in one day and realized trying to retain all the info was almost impossible

Eye opening

This course was a refresher for me. I am glad I took it. It went over basics but brought to mind a few things I had forgoetten. I hope to continue in these courses and apply what I learn to my teaching style.

Great Course

I enjoyed the course. I like the idea of empowering students so that they feel responsible and engaged with what they learn. I will take all this material as a way of creating a real life connection with my students.  Being organized, being proactive and being positive are all skills that I have learned. Thank you!

ED 115 Soft skills

This course was excellent for my teaching experience. I believe by understanding the difference between  soft and hard skills,  now I can implement and deliver the skills i have acquired to make me a better teacher, specially when dealing with such  a diverse population.

Gwen Arnold

This course was very interesting, learning about games to play and backwards chaining.  I will implement this into my classroom lectures.  So many good ideas here, this was a very informative couse.

ED310

I enjoyed learning all the new ways to make learning MT more interesting for the students. I enjoyed reading a the threads and reading how others run their classroom.

ED 105

The ed 105 course was extremely valuable to me as a fairly new instructor to be able to manage my new career and to help plan my educational style to help students.  I have learned quite a bit about teaching from these courses and I look forward to each one!  This one will definitely help as I continue to plan courses.  Mindy Smith
