being prepared for class

It is very important to be prepared for every class.

eye opening

This module opened my eyes to new ideas.

when your instructor is handicapped in a motorized chair.

What techniques could be used for the handicapped individual in a chair to be able to get around the room during your presentations?

Classroom Trust

The moment an instructor walk inside the classroom the student knows whether an instructor could command respect or someone they can manipulate in the process. Proper conduct, house rules needs to be set and timely short humour at times helps in order for them to understand that instructors are humane and trust will serve as there foundation.

Attention span

I thought it was very interesting that the average attention span for an adult is only 15-18 minutes.

meeting class for first time

when meeting the class for first time I will try to let the class know that i am here for them for their learning and to teach them how it will be in the world .

Motivation

Excellent course,A motivated instructor, can easily motivate his/her students easily...

first day of class

I have found that the first day of a new class sets the "tone" The introduction of the instructer and students is a valuable tool in understanding my students needs as well as his or her goals.

Learing Objectives

I need to do a better job of wrtting learing objective. Then make sure that My test measure these objective.

Cat Techniques

I need to make more use of the CAT Technique in my Clsss.

student involvement

Ask all students ask a question. Then have another student answer the question.

Real world problems

I have found that when I give the class a work packet that has real world problems from actual shops with cars that had these problems the students can see that they will be forced to try and solve problems that may not be in a diagnostic manual. This teaches them to look at the symptoms, analyze the information that is presented to them and try to come up to a single conclusion to help diagnois the problem. The students really seem to enjoy this type of brainstorming in their groups and it really shows how well they are getting the covered material.

E-learing

Why not use e-learning to cover all three of the learing Styles

Delivery Methods

Entering the instructional arena for the first time will involve a lot of trial and error. After only two days of classroom instruction I can see the attention span of many of the adults is approximately 15-18 minues. Application on the visualization and tactile style of learning will be essential with students entering the medical profession.

Instructing for the first time

Although working in the field for 16 years, as a new instructor it will be very challenging to share the infromation in a format that will keep adult learners motivated. Patient education flows without problems; as they are interested in their well being.

Mixing Tests

I think using different tests throughout the course would be most beneficial as it will cater to all types of students and their testing abilities.

First Impression is Lasting.

When you walk into the class room, posturing, the way you dress , if you are sloppy this will give the student an impression that your are easy going and you can not command respect as an instructor. Your facial expression or the tone of your voice can alienate a student.

Professional competence by enhancing skills in technology

I would like to request for lit, catalogs and references on how to enhance the technical skills of an Instructor.Knowledge of creating material for classroom use to motivate adult learning. I am handling a class the age bracket of my students are from 23 to 59 yrs. old

Keeping Them Interested

You need to plan your lesson around the classes ability to pay attention. You can't please everybody but you need to keep everyone involved.

Setting standards and expectations

It's always easier to give them some slack later. If you don't show your in charge you'll never be able to. Start out firm and if they deserve it you can lighten up.
