It shows the students that you care about their learning. And as a person that they may look up to, they will have a solid role model and see what it is to be a professional.

I have come to appreciate the monetary value of each moment of education, and correlate that to the material presented or activity conducted.

This can have dual impact on the didactic material that is presented as well as our professional demeanor. The way in which interact with our colleagues and supervisors is demonstrated and noted continuously by the students.

LOVE the saying!!! And so true both in the professional and personal arenas!!! I have transferred it over into my notes for the class, may I use it or is it copywritten material???

And allows the facilitator to manage the time alloted to the discussion - if too much, directing to the next topic, if not enough, adding additional focus.

Absolutely!!!! The instructor may have never had control in the first place if they begin the session in that manner. The student who loses interest and ceases attending (may be emotional or focus, not physical withdrawl) may lose self esteem due to the actions of the instructor.

It demonstrates commitment to the task at hand, validity of the students time and effort, as well as a tool to assess performance and plan for the next session

Diane,
I believe students do pick up cues from their instructor. So the impression we make should be only that of exemplary readiness, as you say, just as we expect from them.

Scott,
Great! Sharing what we know has come from work and life experiences, education and training, certifications and credentials, and the portal to successfulness for graduates entering their new career. With tremendous resources like that, to come to class unprepared is more than unfortunate. Preparedness is like a covenant we have with our students to get them ready, thinking, and skilled for the work setting.

Teachers must be organized and prepared to teach so they 1 can make the most of the time they have with the students 2 show the students it is professional to be prepared and organized

shows that the instructor cares about the material

It is an absolute must to be prepared and organized in our classroom environment. We are teaching materials for our students to make life changing career changes. As instructors we have been in the field for many many years and know what it takes to be successful. How can we expect our students to gain knowledge and skills if we do not present ourselves correctly. We must be on time and ready to hit the ground running

Hi Anissa,
Great. Usig a binder with needed material is a plus. It's like a continuous "work in progress".

Paul,

Hi Deshannon,
Confidence in the instructors abilty comes with preparation and good organizational skills.

Hi Russell,
Good point. Competence is aligned with the student's confidence in the instructor.

It is super important for an instructor to be prepared for each class. I have a organized binder for each class with lesson plans, handouts, calenders, and divider labels to insure that I stay on task. I also encouraage my students to do the same with regards to each one of their classes. Those that implement the use of this tool drastically do better than those that do not. With all this I've stated my "notebook" is constantly being revised as each semester or quarter passes. It is becoming a "live" document.

Students are paying attention to the instructors every move. They can tell if you are having difficulty finding materials or aids.

Hi Suzanna,
Sure. Being ready means taking the students down the path you want and getting there with the intended knowledge. That doesn't happen by accident, but by being prepared with an organized plan of instruction.

If an instructor is organized and know his/her material(s) it will make the learning process earlier for the students. If the instructor is not prepared, most students are able to pick up on this behavior. Students will not take the instructor seriously and this could lead to students withdrawing for the class. The students may think that they can not learn from someone who does not have any organizational skills. If the instructor knows his/her materials, the learning process will run more smoothly. The instructor will be able to stay on track by knowing his/her next step in the learning process. They will not be all over the place when teching.
