Students have the ability to pick up on an instructors lack of preparation which will cause them to doubt the instructors ability and may even cause them to question how knowledgeable they are in the subject matter.
Students want to know that you are confident in your subject and able to provide the structure they need.

By being prepared, the instructor is more confident and focused on the content and delivery for the classroom. The students aren't distracted by disorganization of the instructor.

Being organized and prepared helps the students with the flow of educational learning

Hi Clive,
Organization and preparation go hand in hand. A weel prepared teacher who is disorganized cam make the same impression as one who is not prepared. An probably more common, some teacher appear very organized because of routines, schedules, and usual practices. But if not prepared, the class is likely to fall flat. So, bot are needed for optimal succssfulness.

Preparation is the most important tool in an instructors' tool chest. Preparation makes learning effective. Student can tell when an teacher is not preparated ,it shows also that the person is very unorganized.

Hi Robert,
I think when student truely believe we care about them, they will try harder. This is so simple yet so effective, and unfortunately not always practiced.

Hi Jeanie,
As teachers, we are leaders to our students. We may lead by example, but we also have a responsibility to them to be on time (or early), be available, be approachable, and also, in the process, demonstrate caring, kindness, and the encouragement that suggests we care about the students success. Preparation and delivery in an organized fashion assists making this impression on them. They will see we care.

It shows respect for the students and the subject matter. It lets your students know that you care about teaching them, and they are important to you.

Being an organized teacher not only helps you have a good flow in the classroom , but aso demonstrates to the students the necessity to be organized. Lead by example!

Hi Charles,
I think most students tend to expect professional behavior and demeanor from their instructors when they first meet them, then how the instructor carries that impression determines whether positive affirmations towards the instructor continue or not. Just like in most settings, teachers have one chance to make a good first impression. But preparation and getting class resources organized and set up on a consistent basis does the most to setting the example for students to observe and perhaps emulate in their own behavior.

An instructor should be organized and prepared for class so he doesn’t misspell or omit important words, or give affected responses to his students. Being properly prepared will enable him to project a more professional image.

Hi Joel,
True, very true. Students do pick up on subleties that an instructor may or may not be aware of. But in the positive, when effort is given to the planning, gathering of resources, being available to to students when they arrive, with clear directions for the daily lesson, along with a thorough presentation involving multiple pre-planned activities, that will convey the teacher is prepared and ready to conduct business, and is serious about it. Regardless of delivery sytle or personality type, students will see there has be an organized attempt at preparing for class.

Students are observers of everything much the same way and instructor observes his/her class's activities of good and ideal students. Being unorganized becomes very apparent to the students. good students become very frustrated, while un- motivated students may become more complacent leading to additional classroom management. Stay organized!

you need to be professional at what you do.

Hi Bonnie,
Great! I like your statement about encouragement, because to me, that is just as important as the delivery of course content. Share and care!

I agree with Barry,as teachers,we need to set up an example, a dedicated teacher will produce dedicated learners.

The instructor who demonstrates organizational and management skills sets in motion a giving and receiving of respect for student, instructor, subject, and College. The instructor demonstrates knowledge, this encourages students to trust they will learn the subject, be enthusiastic to gain new knowledge and return to future class sessions.

Hi Sheree,
Yep! If we want respect, trust and full engagement by students, we have to do our part to make that happen.

Hi Barry, I agree that our full preparation for each class is important for the students for their learning process.

Hi Sheree,
Class flow is important. Our responsibility is to our students and they expect (and deserve) our full preparation, and our expertise from work experience, education, training, credentialing, and life experiences. They are due the respect of treating their education with the higest regards, just as we expect the students to give us the courtesy of their full attention and focus.
