Hi Kaytha:
That's a great way of describing the ultimate goal of education - to paraphrase, we need to help our students make the most informed choices that they can in their lives.

Regards, Barry

To understand the level of culture in this country depends upon the education of its people
and to fulfill his or her special purpose for this generation.

Hi Michelle:
To paraphrase what you wrote, as instructors, we are striving to help our students make better decisions in school and in their life.

Regards, Barry

Hi Gretchen:
Another thing we might say is to help our students make better, more effective decisions in school and in life.

Regards, Barry

Hi Paul:
Another consideration would be to say that we are working to help our students make more informed decisions in school and in life.

My goal for educating the student is to educate the next generation of teachers and to produce well rounded educaters

I agree, we need to make sure they are competent and ready for the work force. That's the responsabiltiy of the teaching community. Once a student graduates it is their responsibility to make the most of what they have learned but until then we should be preparing them for that time.

Educating students not only benefits the students life it benefits the community and the profession

I believe the goal of educating students is much more than what we read in a text book. I believe that we are responsible for training them to become the professionals that we have been for years to further the field of whatever it is that you are teaching.

To give the students the best that you can. Reaching out and helping the students reach their goals.

Hi Amy:
That's a great way to describe this concept! In other words, we are ultimately trying to help our students make the most effective decisions in life.

For me the goal of educating the student is to make sure I give them the tools and knowledge that they need to succeed, and also make sure they know how to use them.

My goal for educating students is to teach adults a new career, to which they can apply it in different jobs, and be able to provide for their families.

helping to develop new skills

Hi Cheryl:
That's a great description of the overall goal of educating - to help out students ultimately make more informed decisions in school and in life.

Regards, Barry

Hi Ernest:
This is especially true for career courses. In general, we might also say the goal is to help our students make more effective choices in life.

Regards, Barry

Hi Laura:
In career oriented programs, the goal should absolutely involve the ability to perform the essential functions of that job.

We also might say the goal of educating is to help students learn the most effective way of making good choices in life.

Regards, Barry

Hi Joyce:
Good perspective!

I think we come to our students with education and training, work experience, and a comprehensive understanding of the profession or topics we're assigned to teach. Drawing from that rich background, getting students to the point of learning new and essential information related to their courses is achievable if the teacher is prepared and the students are rightly motivated.

Having a vision for what could be (related to work) offers hope, and good teachers can use that to inspire their students to want to learn.

Regards, Barry

The goal of educating students is to help, inspire and encourage the next generation to achieve and attain all the knowledge and skills that are afforded to them as an opportunity. Knowledge and wisdom is power.

Hi Bradley:
These are great points about the goal of educating. I might add that we strive to help our students make the most effective decisions about their education as they can, and also in their lives.
