An important goal is for students to become their own analysts and problem solvers. They will encounter varied situations in their careers that don't match exactly to the classroom.
i strongly agree with you.
The goal of educating students is so that they can effectively, efficiently, comfortably, and confidently put to use their particular skill.
Hi Adam:
Good thoghts. My goal is to transfer what I know based on the sum of experience, education, background, and teaching abilities. Students benefit when committed individuals put energy and planning into their work.

To me my goal is to give the most useful knowledge in the most effective way. If this means you have to change the way you teach to reach different types of students then that is what you have to do.
Hi Michelle:
Understanding must come, true. And with understanding, the student will be equipped to deal with many situations that can never be taught - they have to be expereinced. Transfering what you've learned to students is our role as teachers. They, in turn, will carry that information into the next generation.

Hi Georgie:
For me, it comes down to transfering my knowledge to the student. Of course there is a lkimit to that. But I possess knowledge the student needs. So my goal is to find ways to achieve that.

Hi Richard:
All of your listed items are good. For me, more generally, I say our goal is to try to transfer what we know to the students. They in turn, will take our knowledge, and pass that along to others who will take it further.. So I guess our goal is the transfer of knowledge for the purpose of benefiting the current and future workforce.
Regards, Barry
my goal is to give the student the tools for the real work enviroment
The goal of educating students is to help them succeed with their chosen career path. Sometimes this does not happen for a variety of reasons and then I still educate the student in making a new decision. Showing professionalism, being a role model, being supportive, caring and firm.
The goal of educating students is that student not only learn the material but they understand the material being taught to them.
Learning to me is educating an individual on new material; with hopes that the student can process the information in more than one setting.
I think the main goal of educating students is to prepare them for their future career. Especially in a career college setting, students are preparing to work in their given field. They need the knowledge and skills that will help them succeed. I teach mainly computer courses and a lot of the discussion posts are asking students to apply what their learning to their personal or work life. It's amazing how many students already use a certain program or after taking the course, how they plan to use it in the future.
To me the goal of educating students is to teach them new ways in performing their job. To prepare them for the workforce. To help them improve their current skills or to learn new skills.
Hi Derbe:
You've identified many key attributes, all good. I suppose one way of stating our goal is to prepare the student through the transfer of knowledge for the purpose of learning in readiness for productive work. We haven't taught if the student hasn't learned, although of course there are many exceptions.
Getting students to not just learn facts but also to think on their own is one of the biggest challenges I think we have as educators.
Regards, Barry
Dear Barry,
The primary goal of education students is to prepare them for for career. To that end students learn the skills and knowledge required in the practical work area. Skills and knowledge should be combined with professionalism. On top of skill in particular area, students also learn secondary(soft skills) that make them educated professionals. Soft skill includes but not limited to, communication that is based on clarity and respect for colleagues, penctualism and interest for ones work and discharging responsiblity and finalizing a work with in an allotted time.
Another goal of educating students is to develope their brain generally, which makes them competent in any area and society. As such one can learn new things easily and become creative because her/his mind is already developed because of the mental exercise he/she has gone through in the course of prior education.
TO TEACH THEM THE SELECTED MATERIALS IN THE BEST POSSIBLE METHOD AVAILABLE
To me the goal of educating students is to give them a skill set in witch they can provide for theirselfs as well as there families. Also its teaching a skill for a field that is desperatley in need of skilled indviuals
The goal of educating students is to enable them to be independent, contributing adults. It is important that students see relevance to their learning and also get opportunities for practical application.
It is our primary goal to prepare our student to be competent in their chosen field
