Hi Carolyn:
"Goal of.." and "Education..." gosh, these are such broad terms. I think your sentiments are sound. I think whatever we can do to positively move the student from point A to ponit B (in a training sense) probably achieves some level of meeting goals. One measure of that is is if a student cannot perform adequately, the best we could say is only partially have goals been met.

The goal of educating students is to give them take-away skills that they can use throughout their careers, not just long enough to pass a test. I attempt to teach them practical skills that will be useful in our field of study, in their personal lives and in other industries in the future.

To be functional members of the industry with the general knowledge that they need to advance in their careers.

I want my students to be the best they can and have Doctors praise them for the things they have learned and to move to even better jobs

My goal of educating students is that they can use the information in thier line of work. The goal is that when they walk out of the classroom they are leaving with new knowledge that they can apply in their field (or future field). A personal goal of educating students is that they also gain a passion for the subject at hand.
