Hi Thomas:
I agree. Career readiness is paramount. All instructional roads should lead down this pathway. When we get student job ready, the bigger goal of securing work is much greater.

Regards, Barry

My goal is not just to educate them , but to prepare them for an actual career. It's difficult and very competitive in the career's that I teach , it's a specified field. I try to explain that there are other students who are going to put in the work and it's not enough to just " get a degree or diploma ". All students will get the information , it's how they apply themselves to it that I concentrate on. THAT IS , AND ALWAYS HAS BEEN , the most difficult part of my job. Getting them to understand how difficult and competitive the real world is. I know 50% of my students will not be employed in their field unless they are self employed , because they will not apply themselves.

Hi George:

To echo your sentiment, we could say the overall goal is to give the students skills they will need to make the most well-informed decisions in life.

Hi Paul:
My goal relates to job readiness. To achieve that, I have to make sure the requisite knowledge, skills, and affective information. Basically, our practical goals is to achieve these attributes through varied and creative assignments that assist in retention and long-term memory.

Hi Kurt:
Good. Knowledge, coupled with skills, critical thinking, and practical applications should prepare students for the work setting they're preparing for. The big goal in vocational settings is getting students job ready. Stories, examples, case studies, and discussion about the "real world" can be both instructive and interesting.

When we educate students, the goal is to prepare them to use acquired knowledge and skills in new settings. It is rare that a student will encounter situations in the work place that are exactly like those covered in the classroom. Therefore, it is important that we stress their ability to adapt their knowledge and skills to those new situations, or to find new answers on their own.

Kurt

The goal of educating students is to put them in a position to be successful in their career choice. If we can't educate on the most basic topics and or their chosen vocation then that person will struggle with their future. We must find a way to reach students and address their learning style as well as continue to improve our teaching style.

My primary goal as a design professional and educator is to educate students so that they continue to raise the value of our profession. There are so many rewards gained by educating new student to go into the field of design and make it even better and more valuable to the world.

For them to learn so that they may succeed in life.

Hi Latasha:
For me, job ready, professional, thinking ability - if I can achieve that, I have reached my goals for my students.

Hi Cynthia:
Yes! Application of learned material is paramount to demonstrating practical skills in the workplace.

Hi Sara:
Great! We are the subject matter experts. Coupled with the vast array of learning resources available to most teachers these days, we should be able to contribute to their successfulness as workers in their chosen profession.

The goal of educating students is to prepare them for real world situations in their careers after they graduate. Knowledge is worthless unless it can be applied into skills for real life applications.

The goals of educating students to to help them grow as a person, feel good about themselves and prepare them to go out into the world and be productive.

It is this generation that will be taking care of me and my family in the coming years.

For me, the goal of educating students to is to prepare them for obstacles they will undoubtably face out in the field. Not just general knowledge, but the skill set to be able to overcome any burden they will face on their career path.

Hi Libi:
I would just emphasize students need to gain ALL the skils, knowledge and affective (SKA) performance learning in order to be adequately prepared for the work or career area their training for.

Regards, Barry

I think the goal should be for the students to gain some skills and knowledge. Also you have provided your expertise and they learned from you as an instructor.

That the become successful in the skill they looking for.

My goal for my students is to teach them new skills and also critical thinking. Everybody has common sense, but is it really applied when needed? Students also need to be prepared for their field of choice and need to apply the skiills learned as well.

My goal is to give them the expierence in class to prepare them for the work force and skills they need to succeed in the career they chose
