Constructing learning objectives is so important because it is the framework for each lesson. It would be impossible to reach the ultimate goal of the lesson without first knowing what that goal is.
Basically the Learning Objectives are at the core of the subject material, the meat and potatoes of what the students are to learn and what needs to be taught. Without learning how to construct proper learning objectives you essentially will be unable to properly plan your instruction.
Karl i do the same if i dont give them the objectives the day before and have them bring in a production list they will get lost during lecture and demo
I'm a new instructor and this is something that I absolutely plan on doing. I feel that it will be necessary to keep students (& myself) on task. It will also provide a visual for students to know that progress is being made during class time.
Learning objectives give students a metaphoric "map" which allows them to see where they are going as well as where they have been in classroom studies
I think that will help me the most. Instead of telling them what we are doing I can add why we are doing it.
It is important because students will be prepared for when they come to class. It then makes it a nice atmosphere in the classroom.
Its important for students to know the learning objectives so they know what they are expected of.
It is a clear and concise way to present to the students what they are expected to apply as outcomes for the class. Students knowing the expected objectives and outcomes gives them a measurable line to walk.
It helps with the flow of classroom instruction.
The most important factor should be to assure that the daily class agenda is aligned with the course learning objectives, this will make students the importance and to know that each day of class, counts towards meeting the learning objectives.
Learning Objecties help me to establish the material that I need to cover in class and keeps the students informed about what to expect in each class. I like to discuss objectives and question how much they know after a class.
Learning objectives really help in the assessment of the student over the course content.
Understanding taxonomy, I will be able to target the material with greater accuracy. Also help me assess the students' progress more efficiently.
Aaron,
I agree. Also, in my opinion, learning objectives appease the human psyche, in that it provides students with the opportunity to see the "end results" of the course.

It is very important because it gives them obtainable goals through out the class period. It also helps keep everyone on task.
learning objectives are the key to the lesson plan. students must understand the purpose behind the lesson.
I think it is important becaues it adds "value" to the course from the students prospective. If they understand the objective I believe it helps the learning process.
The importance of Learning Objectives can not be over stated. They allow the instructor to; maintain learning on points that must be covered., enables the students to concentrate on those specific objectives - gaining a deeper understanding., promotes more narrow casting in test questions - as the quiries more closelly follow the learned objectives. A better understanding the learning objectives, alots for a greater, deeper and more focused understanding of subject matter - for all involved.
By constructing the learning objectives appropriately you will be able to focus on giving students the information that they need to meet industry standards and be successful in their field. It will help guide you on the content that you need to deliver. It can be difficult to cover everything that should be covered in the timeframes that we are given for some of these courses. Keeping the learning objectives in mind can help eliminate time wasting or divergent material from your class.
