I have always been a big proponent of using presentation slides for lectures. Using the slides engages visual learners, and the accompanying lecture engages auditory learners. In addition, I always make the slides accessible through the school's online portal, which allows them to review, make notes, etc. This allows kinesthetic and written learners to go over the material again, make notes, etc.

I have found that using some of the visual resources provided on the internet provide relevant and information that the student can readily understand and also on their level of technology as well.
For instance - the visible body as a youtube presentation was an awesome find!
Giving the class this type of hand-out also is a great place for them to take notes on backs of paper and in margins, because the notes are then accompanying the information -- contextually.
The use of multi-media: charts, photographs, other types of graphics, Powerpoint presentations -- anything that makes the information being communicated more accessible to the eye.
Hi Joanna, Great idea for making a PPT more interactive!

When working with visual learners, I always try to use pictures, charts and graphs. Visual learners need things to look while learning.
I like to use powerpoints but have them project onto the white board. I will draw the flow of a subject matter or enhance the picture with the use of white board markers.
Hi John, Wow! You are doing a great job of engaging not only visual learners but also kinisthetic students.Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career.

Hi Gloria, Thanks for your post to the forum. Visual aids are really important in a class such as "Sketching" as students need to see where they need to be. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career.

I try to ensure that there is a graphic on each PP slide, never just text. I also embed a lot of videos to punctuate the lecture and keep the visual learners engaged. I like to fill a table with objects and equipment that I can hold up and pass around the room to help reach visual and tactile learners at the same time.
hi James, Thanks for your post to the forum. You are certainly using a good mix of activities! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career.

I teach a sketching class and I try to give everyone a handout/clip of what we are going to work on and have a larger version on the white board in the front of the class.
When working with visual learners it is best to use PowerPoint presentations and as many visuals as possible. I like to create diagrams and show some behind the scenes cable routing for audio paths to show my visual learners. I also like to blend a little hands-on time in for the visual learners by requiring them to draw diagrams or visuals themselves.
I also like to print out and hand out to my class those pages that I will be filling in so they can follow along and duplicate my drawing and end up with their own copy of the discussion to keep with their course material or for reference later on.
I think that is a great idea. I use the projector on my power points and intergrade visual pictures of the discussion and points of interest.
Hi Audrey, Thanks for your post to the forum. All good strategies for working with visual learners! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career.

Pictures lots of pictures during lecture. Having them make posters as an in class activity on the topic. Watching video clips of the material covered. Using yourself to point things out for lecture. If you are teaching about the musculoskeletal system point out the body parts on yourself as your lecturing.
Hi Judy, Tahnks for your post to the forum. A class like Dental materials would certainly require hands-on activities, but I agree that including visual content is ideal. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career.

What i implement in my lectures are hands on experiences to expand on materials covered in lecture. Students appreciate the hands on experiences, diagrams and charts. I am also a visual learner and i believe it helps to prepare for classroom activities. Dental Materials is a difficult course to teach with the many materials utilized in dentistry, having materials that the students can work with and know how to manipulate allows for better learning(retention).
