To assist visual learners, I incorporate diagrams, photographs and video clips related to the current topic. To add a little humor, and keep student interest, I will use photo's with comedic captions. I utilize color often throughout my power points to highlight important points, and draw attention to certain areas.

The course content suggests utilizing/exploiting multimedia. In one of my classes, I was able to find excerpts from popular films to help support course content. It was entertaining, thought provoking and elicited a lot of discussion. On the other hand, I have been in classes where the instructor will abuse images, so much so that the original message was lost. Using unrelated images for an “aww that’s cute†response…I found it confusing and a little insulting. As a visual learner and a “creative,†I am very sensitive to the messages in images. A word of caution is to use photos/images wisely, perhaps sparingly, and be sure they support your concepts.
I personally use PowerPoint and Visual Aides to assist my visual learners.

Visual learners are everywhere at my design school. I use many examples and discuss with the students what makes a design great etc. Showing them strong and weak design examples of the kind of projects we are working makes a huge difference.
