Feed back is quite helpful i find.
Knowing the learning styles of my students helps me to tailor my lesson plans, lectures, presentations and demonstrations for each class... It also encourages me to change up my approach each class period and to keep things fresh and interesting.

Know the learing styles help us learn our student learning ability. It help us by letting us know what our student learning ability are at and tell us what and how we should teach that individual

The syllabus provided by the institution where I teach includes learning activities formatted to all learning styles. While helpful, I feel it is my responsibility to recognize the individual, preferred learning styles of each student. This is fairly easily accomplished, as students are usually quite aware of what works best for them. This helps me to present material using the most effective methods, and is highly affective when helping a struggling student; focus on their preferred learning modality.
I found that my students learn the material best when they do the actual work that would be required of them in the field. So I incorporate a lot of labs into my classes and I get a lot of positive feedback from them about it.
My students come from diverse backgrounds and are of all different age groups. The learning styles are just as diverse. I try to teach to every style throughout the week. I also give my students ownership of lecture/teaching by having them present topics to the class that reflects their personal learning style.

When I am aware of the leanring styles of my students, I am able to design the delivery of content in a fashion that allows maximum leanring outcomes. Students are able to grasp material faster, be more attentive, becuae the infromation is being conveyed in a manner that is easy for them.
I think it is important to know the learning styles of our students so that we can alter our lectures to meet the students' needs. If my classroom is made up of auditory learners and visual learners then I need to use the teaching methods that support these learning styles. If I do not, they most likely wont grasp the concepts and materials that they are trying to learn.
Using Power Point will allow the Visual learners to learn primarily through the written word, while Auditory learners will be primarily through listening. They focus their ears and attention on your words, listening carefully to everything you say. I can use the Power Point as a tool or instrument to teach while also making sure the material is written in outline lecture format, so when the student reads the material over it will be understandable.
Hi Stephen, Thanks for your post to the forum. I am a great proponent of frequent quizzes. A short daily quiz can tell us a lot about how students are progressing. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan

I have responded to this instructional in the forum, however, as stated earlier, given the diversity among our students, there is also a diversity in the way that they learn. Knowing the different diverse learning styles of your students will enable the instructor to map out a course of delivery that will enhance the students' learning as well as keeping it fun. I adore the Aha moments my student discover.
it helps you to get the most out of our students. You want them to learn the best way that they can. We need them to go out to the real world and be the best that they can be and by identifying there learning styles and putting the teaching skills forward.
Planning my lecture and demonstrations is the main reason I want to know as much about how my students learn. I really enjoy the day when I can reach each student and feel they have all benefited from the class time.
Some students are a real challenge to break the ice with. And when time is short, I feel sometimes a few are left behind. What's a good strategy for end of class assessment of each students progress.
Hi Nancy, Excellent post to the forum! Your last sentence is especially important- "Regardless, it is important to include all four learning styles during a presentation to insure that our students are gaining the most from their classes." It will help to deliver the material in a more understandable way for the entire population of students. When you focus in a single learning style, the rest of the class whose primary learning style is different, will not feel comfortable at grasping the material.
