The instructional benifits of knowing the learning styles of your students include application of that understanding to appropriate organization and delivery methods of the course content.
Hi Rudy - Thanks for your post to the forum and for mentioning that knowing their own learning style can be a great benefit for students! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
It is such a wonderful moment when, early on in a class, a students says something like "I remember SEEING that on a slide" or "I remember when Johnny SAID that to me". Having a student say that lets me know what kind of learner they are and I can use that from that moment on to give them the best learning experience ever.
By understanding the different learning styles of the students it helps in delivering the information on a level they will understand.
This is so important to me. I like to use a vaiety of ways to teach. I do have to use powerpoint, but I also utilize small groups, short presentations, and students teaching students. I can further asses by doing this.
As an instructor you need to know the learning styles of your students. Knowing the "mix" of the different styles will help you prepare for classes and difficult subjects. You may have more of one style than another. Also, when a student realizes his preferred style, he can effectively prepare for class or tests by reviewing the material in his preferred style. T
By getting to know the learning styles of my students, I will be able to incorporate that into my presentations of the course material. This would benefit me because it would be a means to save time when planning lessons in that I would hopefully be presenting the information in a manner which would enhance their learning, rather than be an obstacle to their learning. A benefit to the students is that by presenting the material in a manner that enhances their learning, it would hopefully also result in helping them to achieve the expected course outcomes.
KNOWING THE STYLES OF STUDENTS LEARNING IS A GREAT WAY TO ADJUST YOUR TEACHING STYLE. THE BEST THING IS IN THE LONG RUN YOU BECOME A BETTER TEACHER AND YOUR STUDENTS GROW!!!
Learning styles are different in each student.
I find that hands on and working with a tool belt breaks alot of barriers. It also gets the students more involved.
The students have more fun learning, which leads to me having more fun teaching. A variety of teaching also helps keep me sharp and connected as well as the students.
It is beneficial to know the learning styles of the students because it can help the instructor analyze the student's performance. If a student is struggling, the instructor should evaluate the content delivery method and make changes accordingly.
It's interesting how some students are unaware that they have different learning styles from others. They will often try to blend in with others, i.e. kinesthetic learners will try to be auditory learners. And then they wonder why they don't do as well on exams or on daily tasks. I often have to interfere and focus on these individuals differently by spending more one on one time with them so that they can get more hands on experience.
Hi Teresa - Thanks for your post to the forum and for your testimonial to the effectiveness of teaching to the learning styles! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan

Knowing my student's learning styles has made me more aware and sensitive to the differences students bring to a class. This knowledge has helped me design and implement more effective tutoring and teaching strategies.
Being aware of the learning style of my students allows me to employ various delivery methods for the same material in an effort to reach the entire class. Though I may not cater to each individual student, a variety of presentation methods has a better chance of registering than presenting information in a single format of my choosing.
