Marva,
I am excited for you! It will be well worth the effort you put in it.

Patty Aronoff

Brashel,

Good deal! It should always be a work in progress as it is never "finished".

Patty Aronoff

Kevin,

Enrollment agreement and catalog constitute the contract with the student and outlines the polices and procedures of the school.

Patty Aronoff

Tayrell,
The rules and regs should be placed in your notebook. Continue to add additional material to support your reference portfolio.

Patty Aronoff

Tayrell,
You are starting a very important resource as you continue in your role in admissions.

Patty Aronoff

Aillen,

They are very different roles within your admissions process. Make sure to add the definitions from both the statutes and the rules. All the definitions do not repeat in both.

Patty Aronoff

Brooke,

Excellent! You are off to a great start. Continue to build your notebook and add materials that will assist you in your very important role.

Patty Aronoff

Mary,
If you have any presence in the state, you must comply ith the rules. Even if your main offices are in another state, you still have operations in Florida and must be licensed.

Patty Aronoff

Monique,

You are off to a great start! Incorporate whatever material you wish in your notebook. You can refine and modify later.

Patty Aronoff

Yezid,
As school director, you have the most important role ensuring the compliance of your school and your staff.

Patty Aronoff

merlene,

Students need to know all the costs involved with their program of study. The fees should be broken down and also listed as refundable or non refundable.

Patty Aronoff

Jaime,
Wee should find out as much information as we can about the prospective student. By active listening and effective questioning, we can assist the student in determining if this is the right fit.

Patty Aronoff

Brooke,
Scholarships should be fully explained with the statement "for those who qualify."

Patty Aronoff

Jeanette,

Excellent post! Advertising and promotional material cannot be misleading and must accurately represent the school and programs.

Patty Aronoff

Hi Patty,
Thank you for asking.
Some terms and definition used at my institution during the admission process are:
Enrollment package which refers to a document that contains all applicable fees, the requirements for admission, the curriculum, books and course schedule.
Course catalogue is another term used which refers to the the document approved by the CIE that contains specific informationn about the institution.
Enrollment agreement is a binding agreement upon acceptance by the student and the institution
Admissions- refers to the requirement to enter the program.
Semesters refers to number of weeks for the course.

I have just started my resource notebook and have placed several documents in the resource book which includes the School catalogue, The enrollment package, student course schedule. Information from the CIE that will become useful regarding steps that are involved in the admission process and key terms. The Florida statutes, Administrative code I have also placed in the resource book. Many of the rules and regulations are very new to me.

Common terms and definitions used during the admission process at my institution include the application for admission (review's students admissibility requirements to the university and program); financial aid web - internal financial aid application; fafsa - free application for federal student aid; entrance counseling and master promissory note. On the application for admission, we request demographic information, previous education - high school/ged and any college experience, work experience, student finance agreement, and enrollment agreement.

I have printed everything out for my resource notebook and I can tell it will will used very much in my career in admissions. What I have discovered is how institutions are required to follow the say rues and regs. I did not know that it was required. I thought each school/intitution followed their own rules and regs. Before I started admissions I just thought that if you started school and you dropped out of whatever the case may be, you would owe the full amount of your loans and so forth. I did not realize it goes by your lenght of time you are in the program. Very educational.

I'm so excited about organizing my resource book it will be beneficial to my career.
