I am just getting started with putting my notebook togther. I am following the refernce notebook checklist. So far I have the CIE Rules, law and statutes. I am gathering the Enrollment Agreements and marketing materias. It's a work in progress
I think that this great resourceful information. I learned a great deal about the difference between an agent and admission employee and also the terms of agreements and catalogs
Thanks for sharing. I have place school catalog and information obtain from the Florida Commission for Independent Education
I have place school catalogs, rules and regulation I have learned via Florida Statues and rules provided by Florida Commission for Independent Education
I placed the Terms and Definitions.I know the different between and agent and admission representative.
Hi Patty,
Some of the terms that we use often:
*Accreditaion - I use this in answering questions students may have about our accreditaion.
*Agent- I will use this in descibing my role to students and in explaining what I do and how I can help them.
*Enrollment- another term that I'll use to students in explaining my role, and we use this term internally as well.
*Enrollment Agreement
*Programs
*Scholarships
*Title IV
Good Afternoon Patty,
I currently have the following included in my Resource Notebook:
*Summary and the actual Rule 6E-2.010, F.A.C. Agents
*Overview of the Admissions Staff Training Program
*Terms and Definitions
*Outline on how to create a Resource Notebook
*The Admissions Staff Training Process
*Information about our programs
*Tuition and expenses
I just started the process of creating my Resource Notebook, so I'm working on gathering more information. Which would include: more informaiton on our history, academic catalog, and enrollment agreements.
The resource notebook is going to be a great tool for me. It will keep me organized and all the rules and regulations at my fingertips.
One item that I missed or miss read, when taking the quiz, do other colleges who's corporate offices are in another state have to be in compliance with the State of Florida.
I said no, which was incorrect.
Then I remembered how our college has had to go to every state and see what their rules and regulations are for us to offer prospective students distance learning classes.
There are about 15 states that we can not offer service because we do not have a physical site there or there were several other reasons.
This is very helpful to know that they do not have an advantage over us because they do have to abide by the same rules and are not allowed to make up their own rules or have different systems of practice in the legal area that would undermind our ability to enroll a prospective student.
transcripts - a list of classes, dates taken and grades, as well as credit given for courses transferred in from other institutions, that the student was enrolled in and his/her grade in the class, along with the insitution's grade scale.,
Transferability of credit - is at the discretion of the accepting institution which develops policies and guidelines in this regard.
Prospects - applicants who are seeking admission to the school.
Fair Consumer Practices Rule - 6E-1.0032 which establishes the regulations and standards of the Commission in this regard. All advertising and promotional literature shall be accurate and not misleading to the public; requires an enrollment agreement and other disclosures, so that prospective students know what type of program they are enrolling in and committing to.
The information I’ve placed in my Resource Notebook so far includes the entire readings of Module 1 (Overview of Admissions Staff Training Program, Terms and Definitions, and Creating Resource Notebook). I know that may seem a bit overwhelming, however with us just beginning this training I’m not sure how much of this information I will need to refer back to just yet. I will however at the end of this training purge this notebook and only keep items I deem necessary to provide the student and I with the information needed to review their education options. I have a notebook I keep handy that I take with me into student appointments when meeting with students here at the campus which includes the student’s full name and record number, program information, accreditation, enrollment agreements, upcoming schedules and orientations, information on CLEP/DANTES, and information specifically pertinent to the student.
I’ve discovered that I would need to renew this license every year. I was not even aware that I would need a license to work off site until about a week ago. I was not aware “advisor†could not be used in title either.
I am the school director and I am taking this course to be sure that my admission representatives are doing ok. I am reviewing their resources notebooks and they have all of the items placed in the resouce notebook check list. This course has been very helpful to me. Thanks.
Yes we have both, individual class and Program Students.
Megan,
Great start! Try adding program information, enrollment agreement, catalog and advertising materials.
Patty Aronoff
Tony,
You are off to a great start! Continue to add additional information and resource documents to your notebook.
Patty Aronoff
Jennifer,
Everyone should be well versed in the regulations and material in the notebook. Having the resources keeps us on the path of compliance.
Patty Aronoff
Greg,
Very good advice! Even though we feel we are well versed in the regs, it is always a good idea to refresh your knowledge.
Patty Aronoff
Ryan ,
Continue to add additional material to assist you in your position.
Patty Aronoff
Dawn,
This is a Rey important discussion to have. Accreditation and transfer of credits is complicated. Having discussions that educate the prospective student is well worth the time spent.
Patty Aronoff
Shanna,
Borrowing responsibly starts at admissions but continues long after graduation. Student loans need to be paid back to keep default management in check.
Patty Aronoff
Jeremy,
The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) is an accrediting body. By being honest and having integrity you will be practicing fair consumer practices. The only way to operate.
