Linda,

A thorough discussion of the terms, their meanings, and the implications they have in the student's experience is a best business practice. Sounds like you have a very thorough admissions process.

Patty Aronoff

Devin ,
Orientation is such a great time. This is when admissions does their "hand off" to education and the true school experience begins.

Patty Aronoff

Andrea,
Admissions representative is the most common title for your role. The term is the most appropriate and is not misleading.

Patty Aronoff

Heidi,
Thank you for your post! There is a difference between quarter credits and semester credits. Be sure you can explain quarter credits and the conversion rates.

Agent, Advertising, Enrollment Agreement.

We use the term DETC: Distance Education and Training Council, as well as GPA Trend, which is the students last 45 credit hours...

I complied and have added to my Resource Notebook with our catalog, enrollment agreement form other quick facts sheets necessary to make my job easier.

I understand the terms and definitions such as accreditation and agencies. Advertising via web, print, flyers, etc. An agent is an employee by an institution and secures applications or accepts payments. The Commission for Independent Education. Fair Consumer Practices are honest, accurate conduct. Institution is any college, university or a career institution.l A program is a group of courses to master a skill. Regulations are rules we must live by. Statutes are Florida "law".

With each student enrolling we discuss the enrollment agreement and the different sections on it. It includes the tuition and registration fees, the cost of a book and a student kit, the loan interest and payment schedule, termination policy, refund policy, job placement. We discuss termination and what that means. We discuss our refund policy and how it works. We discuss tuition and our loan process and terms. We are the school and they are the student. We go over the length of the program they are interested in. We go over attendance, tardies, phone use and the wearing of scrubs. Our policies on all the above and what happens if they don't follow our policies. We discuss their license and how they will get it and what they will have to do to get licensed by the state. We discuss the services they will have to perform to graduate. We practice Fair Consumer Practices and try to follow all the rules and regulations and statutes.

I find it very important for the school to be successful in retaining integrity and protecting the institution and its students

Enrollment, Start Date, Enrollment Agreement, Orientation, Course Outline

Some of the most commonly terms used here are Accreditation, Enrollment Agreement, Regulations, and of course Representative.

I am just getting started with my notebook. I have added the terms and definitions, the enrollment agreement, the catalog, other forms required at registration by my institution, and the print ads. I think a notebook is a great idea and am looking forward to having everything at my fingertips.

Patty,

Some of the terms from the list of definitions that are used most often within my job description would be enrollment, general education course, program, quarter credit hour and tuition. While many other common terms are used, these are the ones that immediately caught my attention as I ran through the list of definitions.
Thank you -

Heidi

milay,

Excellent! Continue to add additional resources as you find them. Don't be shy about what you add.

Patty Aronoff

Rebeca,
It is really a great tool and resource for all admissions personnel. I also recommend it for other school staff as every role must abide by the regulations.

Patty Aronoff

Jennifer,
Having a cover sheet is. Great idea. I have one in mine which is a chronological history of the changes made with the newest change at the top of the list.

Patty Aronoff

Patricia,
Build your notebook to your specifications as your are the user. I like a three ring notebook so I can rearrange as needed.

Patty Aronoff

Patricia,
Check out the forum for ideas from other schools. I personally prefer a three-ringer binder with tabs. I also like to write notes in the margins.

Patty Aronoff

Roger,
Believe it not, many students are aware of the regulatory process and basic tenets of the law.

Patty Aronoff

Rebeca,
The student should fully understand these terms and how they affect them throughout their educational journey.
