Hi Patty,

Here are some of the most commonly used terms and definitions at our institution:

1) Enrollment - which is registering a student to take our vocational home health aid and nursing programs, as well as our continuing education programs for nurses and other healthcare professionals. The result of this registration process is a symbiotic relationship between the student and the school which obligates the student to pay tuition to the institution and obligates the institution to provide instruction to the student.

2) Enrollment Agreement - which is a legally binding contract that is signed by the applicants to our institution as well as by admission representatives who are authorized to sign. It contains an agreement by the student to terms of enrollment and to rules and regulations by which the institution is guided and provides disclosures which inform prospective students of important policies of the institution.

3) Catalogue - which is a published book that lists course and program options as well as rules and regulations that students are required to know and comply with when they attend our institution.

4)Advertising/Marketing - is a term that is used by our staff to describe outreach efforts to reach prospective students who may want to attend our school. This includes efforts in the print media, radio and other outreach programs. We make every effort to be creative in this outreach while creating an attractive environment for prospective students to be made to feel comfortable with their decision to attend our institution.

I have placed, a copy of the Institution catalog, Enrollment agreement,a list of the terms to become familiar with the admission process. Marketing and advertising plans for the institution, A Separate policy and procedure manual, organizational chart , placement and curriculum information.

I learned about the resoource notebook which I found to be very useful. I used to have all the information scattered. But now I have a good ressource manual.
Thanks.

I'm very much in accord with your reply. There are a variety of campaigns run at any time. Some have been phased out, and others have been strengthened.

We have analysts that work for/closely with the marketing department to adjust our efforts to match the market need as well as ensure that our saturation is within the demographic best suited for our offerings.

I have only been here a short while, some of the most commonly used definitions during the admission process include:
Accreditation students want to know if we are any accreditated program.
Enrollment agreement has been used quite a bit as potential students come in and fill out agreements.
Program is also a definition that has been used often as people inquire about the different programs offered.
Finally, scholarships is another definition used frequently as potential students inquire about financing their education.

I put together my Resource Notebook which includes various Florida rules and regulations, our school catalog, enrollment agreement, marketing plan, media/press contacts and the organizational chart. This tool will prove to be very valuable for myself as well as our institution.

Jackie,
Having our resources at our fingertips will keep us informed. Take down the book and review on your down time to review and refresh.

Elizabeth,

We are obligated under Florida law to provide accurate information. There are no allowances or excuses under the law.

Patty Aronoff

Frank,

That nice to hear! We must be current or run the risk of providing inaccurate information to our prospective students.

Patty Aronoff

Gina,

Highlighting and adding your notes on the side is a great way to reinforce important information.

Patty Aronoff

Juliana,

Advertising has a huge impact. Remember that advertising is the very first contact made with the student and has only seconds to make an impact.

Patty Aronoff

Carol Jean,

I believe that everyone should have their own copy and build it to their own specifications o that it will be used efficiently and effectively. I also believe that continuity between staff is equally important.

Patty Aronoff

Jacqueline,

Thank you for the feedback. It is great to hear of the value you are building in your notebook.

Patty Aronoff

kevin,
Class schedules are very important to a prospective student as attendance is integral to successful academics.
Patty Aronoff

Jarine,

Marketing falls under fair consumer practices ensuring that the student receives honest, ethical, and fair treatment in conducting business.

Patty Aronoff

Elizabeth,
Career Services should be working hand-in-hand with admissions. Career planning should be part of the initial interview with our prospective students.

Patty Aronoff

Gina,
As admissions representatives, we need to know details of the curriculum. Spend time to review the course descriptions and get further insight on what is taught in that course.
