Drew,
Development of the notebook is a learning opportunity that does take time. The reward is well worth the effort.

Walter,
Sometimes we need to refresh our knowledge as we can get too comfortable. Try seeing the information through new experiences and new vision.
Patty Aronoff
Walter,
Continue to add more resources to your notebook such as ad slicks, program information and organizational chart.
Patty Aronoff
Joyce,
Thank you for sharing your process. You are organized and know right where to go when you need information.

Peter,
Cool off...is that the cancellation period established for the student to cancel their contract?
Patty Aronoff
Paula,
Student resources should be thoroughly discussed with the student. These resources not only enhance the student experience but can often make the difference in whether the student stays in school.
Patty Aronoff
Jose,
Accreditation is a very important topic to discuss with the student. Many do not understand accreditation fully and the impact it has on their education.
Patty Aronoff
Karen,
Your career services staff should provide you with the information you need. Any information provided should include the verified resource from which the information is drawn.

Walter,
Campus crime reporting is a requirement of the state. Each school should have the report available for review by students, staff and the public.
Patty Aronoff
Liu,
Does your conditional admittance have a time frames and criteria for full admittance?

Excellent post! The enrollment agreement and the catalog are the two most important documents that sets forth the student experience.
Patty Aronoff
Yaitzaenid ,
The catalog is the greatest reference source for the student. It remains the second portion of the contract with student along side the enrollment agreement.

In my Resource Notebook I have placed the terms and definitions, the Chapter 6 E Florida Administrative Code Commission Rules. I didn't know that an admissions employee is required to complete additional forms such as criminal justice information, and that the institution is required to pay fees for it. I didn't know that admissions employees may not use the terms "Counselor", "advisor", or any similar term to refer to themselves.

Some of the terms and definitions commonly used during the admission process at my institution include "enrollment agreement", which is a legally binding contract between the student and the institution and "student resources" which include the library and job-placement assistance.
First off, before now, I didn't think of keeping a "Resource" Notebook, but now that I am aware of it, I've started one by printing out all the "PDF"s files found in this course and putting them in it. I am also making space for the school's catalog and the different forms that we use. And update/expand it as time goes by.
In my Resource Notebook I have placed the informational program booklet for MBA programs at my school. This is a good resource to get a sense of our marketing strategy. It also includes helpful statistics that I did not know of before, like the average age of our students and the typical years of work experience.
