Jared,
Career planning should start with admissions. After all, the prospective student is looking to their future and education is their investment in this dream.

Sarah,
Marketing is an important facet of the admissions process. Much study should be done regarding leads and conversion rates. If the marketing is not working, adjustments must be made as this is very costly to a school.

Sharde,
As the enrollment agreement and catalog are the contract between the student and the school, it is important that all terms and conditions are explained and understood.

I am new to this field so I need to include in my Resourse Notebook, well I have turned it into a Resourse Binder, because there is a lot of information that has been very helpful to me, and since it is impossible for me to remember it all, but I can always go back and reffer to my binder for help. So I have included everything everyone mentions here, as well as a list of every helpful website, I have even included a couple of pages from this course. Thank you for have in it available to us.
Some of the terms commonly used are Accreditation, which refers to the agencies which regulate our participation in federal funding programs. Also, the terms enrollment and enrollment agreement are commonly used in order to discuss with the student the requirements to be accepted into the institution as well as the contract forms which shows they acknowledge the institutions policies and regulations in order to become an enrolled student.
I love the format for the resource notebook, but should each school have a standard layout for their Admin Reps?
Some of the terms used here quite often (as I'm sure anywhere else) are: Accreditation, (it's part of the hold sequence for reception) and marketing.
As I work in the administrative office, we're kept up to date of different advertising campaigns that may be running. It gives one a general idea of what to expect with regard to lead call volume and other such information.
I placed the terms and definitions in my notebook. I did not realize that advertising had an effect on what we as admission representatives do.
I have added the terms and definitions to refer to at a glance with highlighted areas and notes to the side. I did not know as much about Title IV but I feel having all of this information in a resource book will be helpful everyday.
Well first I would like to say what an invaluable tool is the Resource Notebook. At this point, I have placed all of the information set forth for Flordia standards and I feel it to be a solid starting point. I have discovered a great deal in many areas however I must say that the rules governing advertisement was a real eye opener for me particularly as I have had limited exposure to that area. As time progresses I shal be constantly reviewing my Notebook and updating as necessary. There is no excuse for NOT having current information at all times.
I have a binder already so I have included the admissions training in my binder. It also includes other valuable inforamtion and references such as my FA training. I have also included Compnay contacts and titles. I did not know that if I was not informed by my company, that it would still be my responsibility to get the information and keep it as up to date as possible.
The most common definitions used during the admission process is, accreditation, curriculm, marketing or advertising campaign. I also use Career services and their role and assistance. Program offerings are used quite often to those students who are unsure. Interview is used to ensure we know about the potential student and their needs.
Enrollment
Registering a student to take programs or courses at an institution when such registration obligates the student to pay tuition to the institution and obligates the institution to provide instruction to the student.
Fair Consumer Practices
The honest, accurate, and equitable conduct of business and academic relations between institutions and their students or prospective students.
Marketing
A general term that refers to an overall approach to promoting your school and its programs including creating, distributing, pricing, and promoting goods, services, and ideas.
What a great idea to add the Fair Consumer Practices to your resource notebook. Your absolutely right about having them readily available--this will help us to keep in check with making sure we are maintaining honest, accurate, impartial and unbiased conduct towards all our students.
Guy,
Keep on learning. The rules are our guidance to remaining compliant.
Patty Aronoff
Melissa,
Excellent! Keep on adding additional resources to assist you in your daily activities.
