Tessa,
Advertising is highly regulated in Florida. The commission reviews all advertising and marketing materials to make sure that it is not misleading to the students.

Being in admissions for almost 2 years now, it has been ideal to keep up with and add to my resource book. Alot actually changes and its best to keep all tips and strageties provided from then to now. Sometimes one must go back to the basics for better results.
student must be 18, or have sign permission from a parent or guardian, must have high school or original transcript, must have pre-requisite,
I have updated my book with any necessary information about required and related certifacations pertaining to the programs that we have to offer.
We use the more common terms on a daily basis at our institution such as Accreditation: Accrediting agencies provide volunteer membership for institutions and act as "gatekeepers" for federal funding program participation if they are recognised by the US DOE. Clasified as national, regional or programatic.
We mention it in the interview as well as on the tour.
We also discuss our programs or prescribed group of courses to attain mastery of a body of knowledge or set of skills leading to a diploma, certificate or degree, during our interviews.
Reguations or rules that the instituion must live by to retain licensure are discussed often and the term is used widely as well as term Enrollment.
Enrollment is used frequently which is the registering of a studnet to take programs or courses at our institution when such registration obligates the student to pay tuition to the institution and the institution to provide instruction to the student.
I have placed all the manuals from my institution so that I may offer a better service for students.
very important to have a policy manual to add information in the catalog
I also agree a virtual resource notebook is a great idea. It can even be a website or at least a folder dropbox or similar cloud storage...
As a Campus Director, I always tell my staff the School's catalog is like their "bible". They should always refer to the catalog when in doubt of how to handle certain issues, then refer to me for guidance. The Admissions Representative has a Resource Notebook and the staff here ensures he has all current documents driven by Administration.
This is a great idea. It will save time, money and trees. Keep me posted if this becomes available.
Some of the terms and definitions commonly used during the admission process at my institution include but not limited to:
Enrollment Agreement-contract forms the terms of enrollment process and important policies of the institution requiring a wet signature.
Graduation Team-which details the support to be given to the student from the initial enrollment phase to graduation. Outline of their academic and finance counselor and their specific roles towards helping the student continue their academic success.
Enrollment Advisor-initial contact person to begin the student engagement into the institution
Discovery-optional questionaire to identify opportunities and discussion of current and future changes.
Enrollment and enrollment agreement as we are always striving to assist students in reaching their career goals. Another common word is accredidation as we understand how important it is to provide proper information to our students so we may maintain our accredidation and continue helping our students. Advertising is also another common term we utilize as many of our students find us through our advertising.
Having a resource notebook sounds like a very valuable tool. Is it necessary for it to be a physical book or would a virtual resource book be more practical? With today's technology, a virtual book could be created that everyone has access to. It would also make sure that everyone had the most updated materials.
This is especially important to refer to as a guide for yourself, as well as aswering any questions for prospective students, as well as colleages
Hello Ms. Aronoff:
I am very happy with all of this new knowledge you are providing me. I am new at this school and there is a lot I have to learn. I feel excited to know there are individuals like yourself helping me to succeed in my new career. I am a strong believer in having documents in an organized binder for quick references as well as to keep up to date information. Therefore, I feel I am on the right track.
Thank you very much for your assistance. I appreciate it.
Institution, Program, Accreditation, Scholarship, Regulations, Enrollment and Enrollment Agreement
Marketing: promoting our school and its programs, ideas and services.
Advertising: creating and designing publications and promotional items which are seen by prospective students, including catalogs, flyers and brochures which contain institutional policies or disclosures about our school, classified advertisements; news releases; events and website advertising campaigns
The Resource Notebook is exactly what any Admission Representative needs. It is a great tool and helps organizing any piece of information needed in the Admission process, starting with rules and regulations, also with additional information needed for the enrollment process starting with own school, internal policies and procedures. The Resource Notebook is by far the most user friendly and helpful tool that any Admission Rep should use.
A Resource Notebook is very helpful. Adding policies and basic operating procedures to it has been very helpful and easily accessible.
Alex,
Terms and definitions are the language we use in our school policies and procedures. Every student should understand these and their use.
