Patricia,

The statutes are the laws established by the Florida government. The rules give explanation and process of the laws.

Patty Aronoff

Sally,

Few students understand the difference between national and regional accreditation. Take the time to explain your accrediting agency.

Patty Aronoff

Vorick,
They are all very important aspects of the admissions process. This is where we need to spend the extra time with the student to fully explain the terms and how they affect the student.

Patty Aronoff

Vorick,

It is very important. I am never stingy about handing out catalogs.

Patty Aronoff

Vorick,

We must have full disclosure in order to comply with fair consumer practices. It is the only way to do business.

Patty Aronoff

Erica,
Make sure that all information regarding potential compensation in the field is substantiated by credible and verifiable sources.

Patty Aronoff

nicole,

The enrollment agreement along with the catalog constitute the contract between the student and the school.

Patty Aronoff

Catalina,
The student handbook should supplement the catalog. The catalog is the official document along with the enrollment agreement that constitute the contract with the student.

Patty Aronoff

mindy,
New student orientation is such a great event. The excitement is built around taking that first step to a new life.

The information placed in the resource notebook is information about the programs offered at the campus. Rules and Regulations per the college. enrollment information. Step by Step process of enrollment to graduation.

Before a prospective student gets the chance to ask me I mention that our University is Regionally accredited. Since we are an off campus program it is important that they understand we are a "real" University. I normally let the student start the question and answer portion and build the information during our conversation. During that time we cover tuition, financial aid, the courses and the objective. Full disclosure!

Hi - I do beleive I responded to this question, but here goes.

Some of the terms I use are enrollment agreement, catalog, program, application, tuition and fees, and orientation - all of which are relevant and important aspects of the admissions process..

That is a very important point, Patty. In fact, students are supposed to get a copy of the catalog prior to signing the enrollment agreement. And, signing the enrollment agreement is the student's aknowledgement that they have read the document and understand its contents. This is very important.

Most definately, the catalog and enrollment agreement are two very important items that we must be fully aware of. Each of these documents provide exact information about the institution to the prospective student. After a student has enrolled, then the orientation process becomes another venue to inform and familiarize the student with pertinent information about the obligations the institution has to the student, as well as certain rights that the student has and responsibilities also. Recent regulations now include the consumer information packet, which is a must have and the net price calculator. All of these tools are used for full disclosure so that students know everything they need to know before making an official committment to the institution.

Some common terms used at my instituion are:

Student Intake Form - Initial form requesting basic information, educational qualification and personal background

Pre enrollment Information - final information regarding graduation and placement, compensation inforamtion, physical demands, safety requirements and licensing

Some terms and definitions commonly used during the admissions process at my institution are :

1. Enrollment agreement which is a legally binding contract that is signed by student and autherized personnel here at the institute.

2. Program which is a precsribed group of courses taken in the proper sequence to attain mastery of a boy of knowledge or skills leading to a certificate ,diploma and or degree.

3. Enrollment which is the registering of a sstudent to take a program or course at our institution.

I have copied and added the Rule Titles and the Florida Statues 1005.04, 1005.31, and 1005.34.

I have worked for the University many years and was aware of the Rule Titles and Florida Statues, I have had to complied to the Rules and Statues, but not understanding the real importance of the information given.

I have updated the Florida statutes and the rules in the binder that I have used for many years. As the University's primary representative to the state, the information covered so far is not new for me.
I do feel that a notebook/binder is a good resource to find quick answers.

The hangbook to the student will include like a summary of the policies, rules and regulation, objective and goals, administrative office hours financial information, academics policies, student services, student guidance and advising and code of conduct.

1.Copies Rule Title
2. Copies Florida Statues (1005.04, 1005.31, 1005.34

I have been with the University for many years and I have been aware of the Rule Titles and the Florida Statues and I know that we have to follow them.
