Rebekah,

You have the basis for a resource notebook. Make it your regular source of all things compliant.

Catherine,

It does make sense! The rules and laws are there to protect both the student and the school. It is just good business sense.

Mary,

It takes takes time to learn the rules. Make a concentrated effort to learn them all. Try learning circles with others. Make it manageable!

The way that I am learning the various Florida Statutes and Rules and Regulations that regulate my activities and institution, is by researching and reviewing my Commission for Independent Education reading material. Also by reviewing sections 1005.31 (Florida Statutes Licensure of Institution) as well as other sections that pertain to the rules and regulations that regulate my activities and institution.

I also agree that periodic review of the rules and regulations is the best way to learn them; not only will the repetitiveness of the consistent rules and regulations make it easier to remember them, but new rules and regulations have a better chance of being recognized this way.

My team has all the statutes and rules and regulations printed on each of our desks. We replace information as it changes and review these in quarterly meetings.

My institution has a highly structured and interactive training course to ensure that all rules and regulations are learned by new hires.

Great advice! I'm new and just requested a copy for the rest of the testing. Very helpful

I print any and all materials relevant to my institution and keep them in a reference binder.

Complying and understanding is so important, especially when you have State rules and regulations, as well as British rules and regulations and Institution specific rules and regulations. I would say that the good thing is that the rules and regulations all make sense and it is easy to understand why they have been implemented. Again keeping up to date and having a good resource book helps to keep this all in order so that you can refer back to relevant documents.

This was a lot to personally learn for me the rules and regulation change and I need to keep up with them on a regular basis and teach to others who don't know it having the knowledge and sharing it will help not only myself but others who don't check!

Marice,
Everyone has their format of choice. Electronic format gives you the accessibility of quick search and portability.

Renita,

Excellent! Having good communication alerts will keep everyone compliant with updates.

Raena ,
A very good practice indeed! We should refer to them often and refresh our training.

A great way is to maybe produce an electronic notebook. I believe it would be easier to access the information whenever you need it without having to go through a binder but a binder is a great source to keep information as well.

During the training I have printed out the various Florida Statutes and Rules and Regulations to add to my resource book for now. Knowing that they change often they may not stay there for long. My institution sends an alert via email to let us know of changes. The information is also posted on our intranet site for us to refer to all all times.

The ways that I am learning the various Florida Statutes Rules and Regulations are by reading and re-reading! Additionally, our team has printed out a lot of the rules and put them in a notebook. By doing this, we can easily refer to our notebook if we have any questions.

Patty,

What's the website to check up on the statutes monthly???

Marcus ,

Those are great ideas! I had my staff take turns reading portions out loud and initiating discussion about what we read.
