Megan,
We need to put those two pieces of the puzzle together in order to understand what we are doing and why.

Shameena,
The website brings information about the Commission and events regarding our sector. Check it out!
Patty Aronoff
Maria,
I am not aware of that feature through the Commission website or through the Florida legislature.

To print out copies for your binder. As well as reading updated information on the website.
The main source of learning the Florida Staututes and Rules and Regulations has been through reviewing what we have in place and how that is in compliance with the rules. It is also helpful to review through this training what are the most important aspects of the rules and regulations to make sure that I know. It is also helpful to check the rules and regulations when we are implementing any new ideas in the office to ensure that they are in compliance.
Constantly review, print them out. Also, you can use them as apart of fun games to educate your staff and help them to remain relevant to them. Always study a little bit each week, month and year from your notebook in an attempt to master your information.
Erica,
I also recommend having your school documents right alongside you as you learn the rules. For example in reviewing your enrollment agreement find the corresponding rules.
Patty Aronoff
Erica,
I call them manageable moments. There are many sets of rules and regulations to learn but taking them in small doses puts it better into perspective.
Patty Aronoff
I do the same thing. Its hard to believe but studying isn't so hard after all, its just repetitive review ;)
There are so many! The most effective way I have found to learn and UNDERSTAND all this information is by repetitive review. I also try to think of a circumstance that might cause that particular rule, statue or regulation to be enforced. I then review again to make sure it makes sense. It also helps to write it out. Especially for terms and definitions.

Belinda,
Excellent! The more resources we have available to us ensures better compliance.
Patty Aronoff
Suzanne,
It is important that everyone takes ownership and keeping current on the rules covering our school. Having a compliance department makes that job just that much easier.
Patty Aronoff
Timothy,
That is a great way to learn the statutes! Having the statutes and rules nearby when looking at our own documents, we can begin to understand the meaning behind the governance..

Our School Director keeps up to date with all the changes that go on. We have a Resource Binder that everyone keeps in thier office and when there are changes or updates the School Director informs everyone via email and we print out and put into our binder. at least twice a month we also have meetingsin regards to changes
We check the website on a monthly basis. We also have a compliance department that sends out regular emails on updates. It is nice to have more than one person responsible for checking on updates. This way our team doesn't miss much.
I printed out the statutes and have been reading them.
I am comparing the statute requirements to our current documentation and making sure we are in compliance with the rules.
I am also corresponding with department heads to find out how much they understand the rules and evaluating whether I will need to do some in-house education of the rules at a later date.
Nicholas,
You can also check out the webcast of the commission meeting. It can be very informative and alert you to rule changes proposed for the future.
Patty Aronoff
Sondra,
It's very important that the resources that you put in your notebook are the most current and up-to-date. Rule changes can happen at any time during the year.
Patty Aronoff
Katherine,
We must always put compliance first. Having variable resources ensures that you have the top information in order to do your job.
