I have to say that all of the statutes, rules, and regulations are a little intimidating but having this printed out and put in by notebook will certainly be a great assistance.
Initiallly, I learned the Florida Statutes and Rules and Regulations through the various training procedures at my institution. In addition to the training I received, the websites for the Department of Education and the Commission for Independent Education are the best resource for familarizing myself.
Accessing the website and reading any changes.......then discussing at staff meetings to enhance understanding across the board.
I regulary review the CIE website will keep me current on Commission information.
allison,
Checking the CIE website is a very good resource as well as the state school association (FAPSC.) They have great newsletters and additional links to keep you in the know.

Florida Administrative Code (FAC) is the guidance to the application of statute (law). Don't leave out reading the statute for a full meaning of the law.

Through institutional training, this online FAPSC training, and by continually asking campus management questions that I have as they arise.
Reading and discussing with co-workers. I also enlist the assistance of DOE, DOA and will take the suggestion to visit legislative websites. Of course this class helps as well. Lorri
I read and print out from the links that was referred to us on statutes, rules and regulations. We also need to check on the website regularly and read the newsletters that CIE and FAPSC send out.
Yes, we are working on increasing out use of Sharepoint and making it even more useful.
Our institution is also licensed by the Florida Board of Nursing so I am accustomed to use FAC as a reference. When ever a question is asked that affects current policy or procedure I always re-read the corresponding FAC and "test" the questions against it. Most P&P is developed for a reason and FAC serves as a good remionder.
Carrie,
You have selected very good resources to start.
