Jeanne,
Keep on learning! Take your documents such as your catalog or enrollment agreement and compare them to the rules.

The different ways that I am learning the statutes, rules and regulations that regulate the activies at my institution are by reading the materials and from other admissions and compliance officers.

Like many others that have posted, we have a monthly task reminder to review CIE's website for updates. We are not currently a member of FAPSC or accredited so we do not have those resources at this time (as a small school just trying to get started, these affiliations can be costly - but definately on our to do list!) Each member of our team has an Orientation book (created using Forum 1 guidelines) and any new updates will be printed off and distributed during staff meetings so that everyone is on the same page. Keeping everyone up to date helps provide consistent information to students, eliminates staff confusion and ensures regulation compliance.

This course also is very helpful, it's nice to read what and how other people handle the admissions process and compare to how I handle. I've picked up a few helpful hints along the way so far.

There are a lot of rules and regulations, and I find the best way is to use the tools that are given. One being the website for the CIE, tells you all you need to know, and the other is the helpful representative that works at the CIE, I find if I have a question and cant find answer on the website, I can always call my rep.

Good morming,I have put more attention to the statues and rules and regulations as it relates to my institution. I will chck once a month for new information. I have printed and place them in my note book.

Reading! And training!

My company offers a great deal of training before we are ever allowed in front of students. This training along with our internal training and additional reading will have me fully prepared.

Various Florida Statutes and Rules and Regulations are learned from training modules, online websites and from meetings woth directors.

Francisco,
The laws protect both the student and the school.

I learn them via the website, and books.

The best way to learn the statutes, rules and regulations is with it practice, It is impossible to learn them by heart. Every time we have doubts about a procedure we must consult the Statutes, rules and regulations and if we do not understand them we must consult with people experts on the topic including FAPSC

I have created a guide book filled with all the rules amd regulations the admissions department need to follow. Florida law and regulations change regularly so it is also importent to check there web sight for any updates and put them in the guide book.

it is very importent to understand the rules and regulations. They are made to protect people.

Yes. It's necesary to know the internal rules have a reason and conform to the Florida education laws and regulations.

Francisco,
Matching the rules and policies along with your documents is a great way to further understand the regulations.

Once the module number 2 of this course it’s completed, I understand the importance of having The Fair Consumer Practices. After reading skills referred to this content, I understand better the applicability of the procedures of the university and I find the reason for the order of activities and how the information should be transmitted. However, these aren´t the single standards. The institution where I work also has rules to follow which must coexist with regulations of The Fair Consumer Practices. From our internal policies Non Discrimination and our Privacy Policy, to the simplest processes, each step of the admission of new students adapt efficiently with legal regulations that govern us.
For example, in Financial Information, we find topics such as tuition, plus payment, reimbursement policies and financial aid go hand in hand with the State regulations in Florida. Our Academic Information: The description of the academic system, the grading system and requirements. In the area of Student Service where we handle complaints procedures and academic advising, processes and internal rules part of the regulations stipulated by the law of Florida.

Now all this information is also part of my portfolio. I placed at the beginning of the folder by highlighting the content that has direct impact on my work.

In our Institution, we have regulations and laws of the State of Florida. In reading and thanks to that I know the functions of my office, I understand that the internal rules are derived directly from these statutes.

Julio,
Excellent!

Tracy,
The effort is well worth the task.

Paulette,
It takes a well-rounded group to keep everyone informed and compliant. Information comes from many resources and good communication must bring it forward.

Truley the only way is to read and ensure that you understand them as well as how to make sure you are adhering to them in every situation. It is time consuming but very necessary.
