First of all, I have to read and understand, at least, the rules that are comprised in the following documents: Section 1005.31, F.S. Licensure of Institutions, Section 1005.04, F.S. Fair Consumer Practices, Section 1005.34, F.S. Fair Consumer Practices: Condition of Operation, Rule 6E-1.0032, F.A.C., Fair Consumer Practices, Section 1005.38, F.S., Actions Against a Licensee and Other Penalties, and Rule 6E-2.0061, F.A.C., Actions Against a Licensee; Penalties.
Second, I have to check the Florida Commission for Independent Education website at least once a month for announcements of any updates to Rules and Statutes.
Florida commission for independant education, and your institution catalog are good source of reference, that's why it's helpful to keep your notebook current with updated information. participate in your companies meeting.
Kimberly,

Please describe you membership association meeting in more detail.

The ways I am learning the various Florida Statutes and Rules and Regulations are from:
1. continuing education
2. Update Internet information
3. Board meeting attendance
4. membership association
I spend a great deal researching information and consulting with other professionals in the business, so that our organization as a whole is up to date on the latest!
Domonique,
You are so right! For some reason, they really seem to stick and stay around. It often takes a long time to correct such a wrong.
The biggest and most interesting subject has been the comments to avoid. It's crazy that using simple words however unintentional and how benevolent the intent is can have serious reprucussions. While it does seem like a lot of red tape I am glad to be going through this training. I feel like I know how to better protect myself from any trouble with the FDOE, CIE, and FAPSC.
Traci,
The internet has certainly changed the way we gather information and do business.
I use the internet. It is a great resource for the most up to date Fl. rules and regulations.
Charles,
Reading and comparing is a great way to learn.
Traci,
A very good start.
Since taking the course, I have been reading the download of the Florida Statues and Rules and Regulations. Sometimes I find myself drifting off while reading them. They are very lengthy, but I am getting through them. I have also compared those rules to the school catalog and are finding our school is compliant.
I see that our school has had to put in a lot of time to put together the school catalog.
I created the institution's policies and procedures
Melanie,
That is good news! Compliance is #1.
Francisco,
You have a very good routine in place.
Currently, we are simply checking the regs online, attending the FAPSC conferences, and depending on Corporate to keep us updated. Through this course, we will now start a resource binder and have also decided to hire someone at each campus to be a Compliance Director so that we don't miss any updates or changes that occur.
I visit the CIE website often, at least twice a month. Besides, the CIE also has a monthly newsletter which is constantly informing about any change or updates to the rules and regulations
