Having the links saved as favorites is often used. Thanks for your post!
Diana,
Keep on learning! It will all start to come together.
Donald,
Definitions are discussed in both statute and rule. Be sure to discover both.
Harry,
You will find that many of the basic tenets of educational regulations transcend borders of states.
Dear Patty
With all due respect, I have been with the Commission since 93. and 1995 I have created the first module: Practical Nurse Review Prep then The practical Nurse Review Prep Course; Then the
. Presenltly everybody is talking about it. What I am trying to point out one can't go without consulting the Florida Statutes and mostly the rules and regulations.Evry body should be aware of their limitations mostly during an interview while approaching the enrollment agreement.
As an addendum, they should mention the following:
Most of students take it home to bring it back.
Not with the School official signature. It happens every day.
In the admission regulations or procedures, it does not say the real requirements to be admitted;
Only High School or GED. Later on, it was the T.A.B.E. Until I have presented to the Commission a new scenario. A Foreign Practical Nurse applying to the practical review prep to sit for the N-CLEX.
with the international reciprocity guidelines we have grant the international diploma look for the compliance as per the exam regulations.
The problem that came up: The incomplete file.
That was my concern.
When dealing with foreign documentation it is not so easy to come up with a firm decision.
One of the Board members responded Dr Lafortune, only Washington has the jurisdiction to decide on validation of papers or documentation
Mr Ferguson the ex Director then, and still is stood up with the unexpected answer and said very clearly:
From now on: WE should have all students sign an affidavit, sworn statement: high School attended, DOB,and date of school graduation
That shows the many way I have to constantly consulting the Florid Statutes and Regulations as a Bible
Dr Lafortune
I have been in this business 27 years and first started in California where most of the Florida Statues have been adopted from so I'm familiar with most of Florida's statues because of California's statues, they are very similar and over time they will become stamped in your head
BY READING AND REVIEWING THE GENERAL PROVISIONS PART 1, PURPOSE, DEFINITIONS ETC VERY HELPFUL
In the position I held prior to this I very rarely kept up with the regulations and Florida Statutes since I was not in Admissions. I have learned a lot during this course so far and will regularly check for updates on rules for the institution. So much to absorb!
There are several ways that I am learning the various Florida Statutes, rules and regulation. Although the Resource Notebook is a good way in being able retrieve important information it is also helps to use other options to ensure that I am staying current with changes. The internet is a great resource as you can get immediate updates on Florida Statues and Rules and Publications, policies and procedures manuals in addition promotional materials. Below are a few links that I save on my favorites to stay informed with changes. It is also important that once you are aware of these changes to update your Resource Notebook.
1. www.fldoe.org/cie/
2. www.fldoe.org/cie/rulesandlaw.asp
3. www.flsenate.gov/statutes/index.cfm?
4. www.fldoe.org/cie/pdf/chapter6E_rules.pdf
Doing this class and research on the internet.
Also the College has a complience office that keeps us updated on new regulations.
Checking online once a month for any updates and attending meeting held by the Dept of Ed
Suzanne,
Reading and discussing the rules and regs can ensure proper understanding and utilization.
Paola,
Open communication is key to continual learning. Oppotunities present themselves often.
Joy,
Excellent! Keep up the good work!
This course has been very informative for learning the Statutes, Rules and Regulations. I have printed out all the material for my Resource Handbook. Read, read, read and reference the CIE and DOE often for the latest updates.
by not guessing or assuming and simply asking questions to my superiors and educating myself through the online resources or refering back to my notebook.Keeping an open line of communication with the other department heads that work within my campus is a key to success.
Reading is really the best way. You have to read the state website, memos, and newsletters. In addition, we attend outside admissions training (as well as other training), so we can be sure we are doing things in compliance and to the best of our abilities.
I review updates via the CIE, DOE and DCF websites and by staying in close contact with my Program Analyst.
I have spent much time reading through vairous Department of Education documents. This has been VERY helpful to me because it shows me what is and is not legal. I have gone through and noted some minor misunderstandings I previously had held.
Does the Florida Statue on the Senate titles have to been individually downloaded in the Admission book. When CIE come to the school for site visit will be be looking for that. If the title and number be sufficient?
