The website for commissions, the fafsa website, the policies and procedures governed by our school and questions to my supervisor and Director.
Anette,
Thus the purpose behind the Florida Department of Education and the Commission for Independent Education.
Evan,
Good advice. It is best to start with the statutes as the rules explain the kass.
Michelle,
Technology certainly has brought information to us easily and quickly.
We all need rules and regulations to have order and there have to be penalities to breaking rules against licensed institutions. That's one great way to maintain standards within the institution and amongst students. The statues, rules and regulations very importantly allows us to practice fair Consumer Practices and more.
I feel that it is important to fully read all the statutes, rules, and regulations that deal with any part of the functions of the school. If something is not fully understood I feel that it is important to ask questions to the CIE to ensure that I am acting within my scope-of-practice. We all need to realize that ignorance is never an excuse; we are all held accountable for our actions as school representatives whether that be verbal or written communications with students or other staff members.
there is so much info online
Joann,
The rules and laws are there to protect everyone.
Gerardo,
Great advice! Practice makes perfection.
Ena,
Use others to encourage learning and verify the understanding of the rules.
Jason,
Thank you for your feedback. Forums provide us information and discussions with other schools.
Jason,
Your program specialist is your go-to person at CIE. They are there to assist.
Anette,
You are off to a great start!
Patricia,
Still check out the FAPSC website. There are resources that are available to non-members as well. Also, your CIE program specialist is there to assist.
Betina,
Great start! Try taking the documents that you use and compare with the rules. It will bring a deeper understanding.
Alvin,
The Commission website is a resource tool that will assist you in keeping current. Although rule changes can be made anytime during the year, statutes can only be modified during legislative session.
Joy,
Don't forget the rules! They explain the statutes and how to apply the law.
I am learning the different statutes via the commission website and I am also printing them off to read so that I will have a full understanding.
We have the Florida Statutes & Rules & Regs printed out and are available for staff and students to read. Rules are always changing so originally we printed them out once a year but I will notify the staff of reviewing the rules online monthly and printing out any new laws that may have changed.
Kristyn,
Excellent! Keep up the good work and take advantage of every learning opportunity.
